slow down big man, that search right there took me the better part of 5 minutes. So its not 70 its more like 45, trust me I won't loose any sleep over my lack of search skills in other forums.

There is no way a 'stock' 332hp motor is putting down 290rwhp. That's only 12.5 percent drive train loss. Its either the motor was underrated by nissan (and that never happens with jap engines) or there were bolt ons they were hush-hush about.

The best times the mags have hit have been low 13's, and thats on a prepped track, beating the hell out of the car and experimenting with different launch RPM's.
Nobody is going to be hitting 12's in a car that weighs 3400lbs and has 260WHP. Not happening.
Also, there is nothing "new" about the 3.7L engine. Its the same old VQ V6 that has been chastized for its high RPM crudeness and vibrations, read any review and they'll tell you that. The VQ also doesn't repond well to bolt ons, and they are known for having poor piston ring sealing which causes oil consumption.

Some american v8s were underrated(the LT4). And maybe a couple here and there from LT1s and LS1s.

**** i only searched for 5 minutes and found better info then that.
but whatever no sleep lost here either.
i think with a good driver they'll be a high 12 car but for most average drivers i'd agree they'll be stuck in the 13's.

I wouldn't put much faith into magazine time slips either. My uncle used to work for Road&Track and tested a good amount of cars in his 12 years there. Some mags receive cars from the factory with pcm tunning and stickier after market tires. Motortrend is notorious for letting that slide.

Even the 286 seems high. That's only 13.8 percent drive train loss. All it takes is a K&N filter swap or equivalent, and you will see on average a 7rwhp gain. Now, that would bring it down to 279rwhp. That is more realistic at 16 percent DTL.

Let me guess you believe the Ford GT has a DTL of 7% too right?
I'm not puting any faith in magazine times... the owners themselves with 350Z HRs have gone as quick as 13.1 @ 109mph... so a lighter 370Z with more horsepower is going to run slower than the pathetic times the magazines are posting up? (is that what you are saying here??)
The irony is all of these magazines post crap times for nearly every car they test so I don't agree with you at all.
Here are some 'stellar' performance results from these guys on the old LS1 F-body....
Example:
A ringer from edmunds
14.0@103.9 mph
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpconta.../pageNumber=10
Another ringer from C&D
13.8 seconds at 104 mph
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...st+page-6.html
MT: 13.49/107.34
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ang_specs.html
Real Life: 13.19/108.59mph
With a Z28 on a real track with an 'ok' driver behind the wheel.
That example alone illustrates the fact that real drivers on real tracks with really good weather will not only run better than those magazine times but will likely have the ability to pull off 12s under optimal conditions with a great driver.

Sometimes I'll have a rebuttal typed up in the reply box, then realize it's really not worth trying to have a discussion with someone like that.
