Me vs C5Z answers plz??
Ok so I am with my girlfriend coming back from the bar from watching the mavericks put a hurtin on SA. As we are driving back to the apt i see a blue c5 Z06. As im driving next to him he throttle pops it a few times. I get in front of him and proceed to the highway. We line up on the highway at about 60 mph, which puts me into the top of 2nd. On three honks, i get the jump. Thinking i have him cuz of the jump, all i see/hear is his car fly by. By about the end of 3rd which is ~100mph, he was EZily 3-4 cars ahead of me and gaining. I cried. My mods are in the sig. We ran again, i was in 3rd around 60 again, and same thing only worse. WTF is done to this thing? it had stock exhaust tips so idk WTF it has done to it. I hear ppl that say they can smell nitrious but i didnt smell ne thing different. This Z ******* HAULED! ne input on this would be nice. I always thought my car would be able to fend better against a C5z06. My guess is he has internals with stock catback? Wat do you guys think??

Well those C5Z's dyno right at or even higher than what your car puts down. They weigh less too. Plus you had your gf with you... she's worth an extra 250lbs. Add all that up together and the outcome sounds about right. Get you a cam and a tune and you will probably be right there with him. I also doubt his car was 100% stock because honestly who the hell leaves their car stock. Time to save up some money and start doing some bigger mods, because as we all know the modding never ends.

c5z~ 400lbs lighter, better gearing, the same or better rwhp depending if it was an 01 or 02 or newer, plus you had a passenger. Sounds like you ran a
stock or mildly modded z. From what i've read your going to need over 400hp
to pull on a z. Atleast you got to run one, all the z owners i've encountered
just stare blankly ahead when I try to initiate a race. Install a cam and change the outcome next time.

Don't feel bad. Lightly modded Z's can hang with pullied cobras, which usually have 70+rwhp, due to all the mentioned reasons (weight, aero, trans gearing, etc). And I know what it's like to lose to a pullied cobra, it was similar to your Z encounter. I also know what it's like to run even with an 05 c6 auto, pull a lightly modded 04 sti two cars from 0-100, and b. I've been surprised a few times in my encounters over the years with my TA, mostly good surprised but you're always gonna have a couple that leave you scratching your head after it's over, when you thought for sure you'd be able to hang.

Let's put it this way, I trapped 117 all day long last time out at the track and the last 04 C5 Z06 I ran on the highway punched it from a few cars ahead of me. I dropped and punched it and was able to stop his pull but it didn't really look like I was gaining anything back. And he was bone stock (good driver).
Your results sound about right if he was stock or close to it, especially with you having a passenger. People underestimate how much of a difference even a light passenger makes.

except 250?...that may be what you're used to in Kingsburg, but come on man.
another central valley persona in the house.
