Here is the ratio comparison for the A6 vs our A4:
1st - 4.03 / 3.06
2nd - 2.36 / 1.63
3rd - 1.53 / 1.0
4th - 1.15 / .7
5th - .85 / na
6th - .67 / na
If you put the math to it, you'll see that a G8 GXP with a 3.27 rear gear is actually "lower" than an A4 F-body with 3.73's.

What you guys are missing is OVERALL gearing. Each ratio must be multiplied by the final drive to show the TRUE overall gearing vs. the other car.
For example, a Cobra with a 3:55 FD is actually less agressively geared than an SRT-8 with a 3:06 FD in 1st and 2nd gear due to the gear ratios in 1st and 2nd.
The only other confounding factor is the height of the tires on each car.
However, since the powertrains are closely related (domestic pushrod NA V-8s), just comparing top speed in each gear may be a simpler way.

Mods on the TA are just High flow cats + cutout + SLP Lid.
Thinking about getting a GXP now hahah.... Don't know what the negative effects would be owning a brand new car with the manufacturer ceasing to exist...

A Friend of mine with a stock G8 GT ran mid 13's all day long (first time at the track with his car) So I would guess a GXP would run a good bit quicker. I would hope the G8 GXP would win most races vs a mostly stock Fbody. wouldn't be too ugly but I would hope the G8 would win...

Not being a jerk here but how does this logic work? I'm quite sure when stock, A4 and M6 fbody LS1 cars all run similar ets with most variances occurring in the trap speeds? Either way though, thanks for sharing op.

A4 looks like... 3.06 1.62 1.00 0.70
M6 looks like... 2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.5
keep in mind the manual is going to have a 3.42 rear where the auto will have typically a 2.73 or a 3.23 (another disadvantage)
you can clearly see that the m6 has the advantage going from 2nd through even 5th gear. its a pretty common understanding that stock m6 cars should take out stock a4 cars roll racing.
so back to the topic... if the auto was inching by, the same car should have pulled decently if it had an M6. i agree maybe it would not have RAPED, but compared to inching by, i'd expect more pulling from the m6. i'll be careful when using the R word in the kill section from now on.

its in the gearing. the extra gears do help out to make a difference between ROLL racing a4's and m6's.
