Default WRX schools a red SS...

I have a friend who called me a told me about a red SS w/ black striped he raced on 518 in Pearland right in front of Loews. They went from a dig at the light there and he said he had the SS covered by about a car or so until 90mph when they had to shut down. He wanted to see if the guy would fess up. It was an auto with DR's and he said the guy was cool, just wanted to see what he had done.

P.S. Don't worry guys. I am driving tha stang to school tomorrow so I am sure there will be a kill story!

What mods does the WRX have? I have raced a quite a few of them and haven't found any fast ones yet. They are pretty nasty out of the hole if you get someone that knows how to drive it though.

I definitely believe it. I love WRXs, I'd love to have one to work on. They look nice, not super ricey like the STI. I love 'em... my buddy had one a while back but totalled it Boy, I loved that car though.

No way, I'd probably shoot myself in the face if I had a car with the Camaro nameplate and couldn't do a nice smokey RWD burnout. The STI is fast, but incredibly ugly in my opinion.

I heard someone actually did that, or attempted to do that ... put a AWD system onto a camaro (either LT1 or LS1).
Not sure whether it worked out or not though.

The wrx that beat the ss must have been a modded sti, huh? I like wrxs too, but I agree the STI looks gay with that wing. Plus, no radio? I couldn't live with that.

It must have been raining! The last itme I ran into a WRX he was taunting me!! He wouldn't leave me alone. SO I had to do it. Lets just say I'm glad is was late, after 2am. the streets were cold and I went from lane to lane, I bet he was even glad I was far enough ahead of him so I didn't hit him. Oh well that was my experience with the bad WRX!

Yeah from what I hear they have to be pretty damn modded up to hang with an ls1. Still probably fun to drive in the twists though. Never driven or ridden in one...

The WRX is a great little car. My brother has one and it is FUN. Stock they can't hang...but with some serious mods they can be trouble. The STi, on the other hand, can be trouble with or without mods. They are fast, I'll take one without the wing...of course I wouldn't give up any of my camaros in exchange.

It is modded, but no heavily and it isn't a STI. I think it is a 2002, it's white with bronze wheels. He is a buddy of mine and he can drive his *** off!

I'm not to fond of the wrx's. They have shown to handle no more than 350(being conservative) crank horsepower without doing some kind of internal work. Another point are there weak transmissions. Only able to handle 300-350ftlb of torque. I know 3 people that have there wrx's down at the present time. 2 for motor failures and the other for tranny problems.

This is one reason I prefer the Evo over both STI and Wrx. One the 4g63 has been proven to make 500+ on stock internals. Second, parts are easily accessible. Third is the iron block.

The WRX and Evo models are what got me into modding the SS. Did not want to lose to a wing-ed sedan.

^maybe we can all pretend it didn't win many many awards/rally championships.

the WRX tops out like at 130 (not governed) doesn't it?

the only thing the evo has against it is that it is a Mitsubishi, and with the whole Montero ordeal they've been known to screw people.

ask the 3000gt crowd, some are relly bitter.

I have yet to run into a WRX, STi or not, that is worth a ****. They always take me at the light, but mid 2nd gear it starts getting uglier and uglier.

Well XCAL
Personally I can't see why we need to carry a discussion on a Subaru or come running to its defense. Its bad enough on LS1.com! (Import praise)
I'm sure everyone knows Subaru's automotive potential.
So-Take your *** over to the Dealer and buy one, If your so fond of them!
I could 've purchased anything I wanted (Yes I even went and looked at AND drove the WRX)
I settled with my TA.......... great looks, smooth interior, full power, good HP, decent handling and the ability to upgrade everything (aftermarket) For a reasonable price. ONE FAST LUXURY LINER is all I wanted.
If you want to race try my 65 Falcon!

The thread was simply for my friend who raced the guy in the Camaro to see what his mods were, everyone calm down.

A friend of mine has a 02 WRX and he ran a best of 8.30's in the 1/8 and another local guy (who is a dick) runs 7.70's. WRX's are like mustangs… you never know what your gonna get.
