Default Raced a new SS

On my way home today from Autozone there was one sitting at a light a couple cars ahead of me. When the light turns green it takes off like a bat out of hell. So im weaving through cars to get up next to it and finally we both get stopped by a red light. I look over and give him the thumbs up and give him a little rev, then he revs back. The light turns green and we both stomp on it. We both spin like hell and he jumps out in front, but when he shifted to second i pulled ahead by about a bumper and stayed there the rest of the time. He shut down at about 90 then turned at the next light lol. I am so pumped right now you have know idea. I thought for sure i would get slaughtered lol

Are the new SS Camaros really this slow? I don't think anyone has posted a death to an SS yet and the people beating them are lid/exhaust LS1s.

the new camaro is heavy compared to your car..... so the stock times are close now you have exhaust and a lid you should make the race super close or win

sweet kill I bet ss owners dick shrunk about 10X lol

Theres a kid in my neighborhood that has one. I can't wait to line 'em up.

He always revs at me when I am on the other side of road, usually with my mom.

The story said the SS jumped out a car or so, then shifted to second (maybe short shifted?) and then the OP pulled past him.

What needs to happen is people need to get some races against the new SS's on film so we can actually see what went down, who got the hit, etc.

It was most likely driver error on his part. He got the jump and pulled about half a car then as he shifted to second when i did but i have an A4 so i gained a little bit to be just in front of his bumper and thats where we ended up

Good kill OP

But I think he should have you tho..

Maybe he's still breaking in the car.. I think a car that regularly trap high 12 should beat a car that regularly trap mid to low 13

I'm not that surprised. I thought the new SS was only running like high 12's at 108-110. A catback/lid 4th gen can run high 12's as well. It's really a driver's race and these two were neck and neck with the 4th gen barely winning. As mentioned before the 5th gen weighs a LOT more than the 4th gen.

Things are going to get interesting when the 5th gen will get cat back, CAI, tune and more...

5th gen is faster than 4th IMO, but stock for stock. Those SS will be damn quick when a bit modded. Look at the G8 GT that weights more but theyre quick with just a tune/CAI/cat back. So with the extra displacement/less weight, they will be quicker than the G8.
