Cobalt SS vs LS1 F Body vs 05-09 Mustang GT
#21
Geez... lots of hatin' on that mustang. It's not bad for what it is, but it's heavy. Seems like it's doing exactly as it should to me. A 319 rwhp mustang is going to lose to a 300rwhp Cobalt, and an LS1 with full exhaust and an intake... I'll give props to the cobalt, though. I am getting more and more impressed by the little 4 cylinder turbo cars. I'm just glad that it's the domestic 4 cylinders that are impressing me the most.
I better go get some mods for the vette or I'm going to be behind the power curve by the time I come back from Germany in 3 years.

I will when I get rim/tire.
Yeah you can. Stock turbo can hold 23 psi, Most guys are making between 310 and 350 WHP running that much boost with bolt ons.
20 PSI. Stock cold pipe, catback, intake, intercooler, tires
Eh I dunno man, the Cobalt is light, as in high 2800's and if one makes 20 more whp but weighs 600-700 lbs more especially at these weight/hp ratio's its over.
They make more power and more torque, but are a tad heavier. I think the cobalt is more mod friendly and cheaper to get to 350WHP, but after that I would have to say the SRT-4 is a better buy.
If you want a FWD 135 MPH car buy an SRT-4 if you want a badass FWD car that traps 105-115 without spending over a grand, and doesn't look like the shittiest econoshitbox to EVER hit the market than the cobalt is the way to go.
Its directly injected which right now it runs out of fuel at around 400WHP and until something comes out a reliable 500WHP is not within reach.

I was told that this site had very little fanboyisms. But I've been seeing a lot of it lately. Sad. :/

Indeed. With cars about .5 of a second apart, it depends on the driver. For example, I've beaten stock 05+ GTs with my 2002 GT before because the 05+ GT owner couldn't drive. I'd never say that 02 GTs are faster than 05+ GTs.

That 4-banger really suprised me!
I don't see anyone hatin' The 'stang got drug. It is what it is. I'm assuming at about 320rwhp the Mustang should have had full exhaust as well. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but if so that's basically what a bolt-on S197 vs. bolt-on LS1 race looks like. You make it seem like the Mustang was racing something way out of it's league mod for mod or something.
Though I like to see a good race no matter what brand of cars involved, I honestly don't care for Cobalts whatsoever. Hope that doesn't make me a fan boy.

Point taken. Having said that, I don't have a lot of posts either. Not much to add in the tech section being a Mustang guy.
