I've come to decide that I'll never reach the top. As I get faster, so does everyone else.

Isn't that the truth. I thought I'd have the fastest street car in town while I'm at 500rwhp, and a friend is bringing one home that makes similar numbers plus spray. I know what my next mod is .

old friend of mine just filled me in on his new buildup of his early 70's stepside: 520ci bigblock with Merlin heads, fully built for 30+psi and 1400hp. To be used for his Daily Driver at 10psi/meth/ 750-800rwhp. When asked if he was gonna be top dog in his town he says- "It's just for show mostly because there are some seriously fast rides down here (mid Ohio) that would make me look slow." Ouch! One of those spots in the USA where 9 second cars are run of the mill and you gotta go 8's to get any respect. 7's are required he said if you own any kinda speed shop: slower and you arent taken seriously. Glad it aint like that up here in Washington.

I agree. I live in a town of about 25k people, other than the race cars that OCCASIONALLY get taken on the street (couple times a year maybe) there really are no cars here that are even out of the 12s.
It makes me slower because I really have no competition that I have to beat.
But, now that my friend has a similar setup, I'm sure we'll go round for round trying to go faster
I'm looking in to setting up a 200 shot.

Nice kill with the stang....You stretched him pretty good...
If I could afford it I would get one of these auto vettes you guys are talking about for my wife/daughter

Id personally label it as a 114-117 car...About a mph faster than the C5Z06's 113-116...
114-117mph trapps for only 50K and considering the looks/handling/history...Dayum..The base vettes are monsters now....
Very solid kill...You gotta be in the 117-120 range to win that convincingly...
Thanks for the vid

OP, I used to drive a mustang and the only way I got rid of that chirping noise was to replace the pivot ball, bell housing, clutch fork and TOB. Probably not all of it was necessary, but I wanted it gone for good.
The rattling is the TOB wobbling on the TOB retainer of the bellhousing. Once it starts, it wont go away unless...
either you have the cable too tight and practically ride the clutch with the TOB pressed on the pressure plate
OR
you replace the bellhousing. I dont remember on the t56, but I know of my t3650, the TOB retainer was one piece with the bellhousing. I am almost 100% that it is on the cobra t56.
I spent hundreds of dollars and tremendous amounts of time trying to get that to stop. I replaced the clutch 3 times, replaced the TOB 3 times, and the clutch fork and pivot ball twice, as well as buying adjustable cable, firewall adjuster, the spring for the pedal, the new steeda quadrant, and none of it worked until I replaced the bell housing.
Good luck, I think I still have a bunch of documentation on this if you're interested.
Or you can just let it chirp, bothered the **** out of me though!
BTW nice runs

Either way, I'll be replacing the fork, pivot and throwout bearing, and other items when I upgrade to the 26 spline input.

I'll probably be upgrading to a 26 spline input shaft next year and I'll obviously have to do a new clutch and all that at the same time. I'd be replacing all of those items at the same time. What has me wondering is it didn't have this issue until I replace the OEM retainer sleeve with the LethalPerformance sleeve and replaced the TOB. Since then it's made this noise. The noise also gets worse in cold or wet conditions. I currently don't have an inspection cover on the trans. There wasn't one on the car when I got it. I'll be putting one back on soon to see if that might be part of the issue. Obviously if it's uncovered, it'll make more noise.

Thats a nice upgrade. So the t56 do have removable TOB retainers? The sleeve that slides over the input shaft? if so, that is the problem, and would def solve it. What were the perks to running the lethal perf over stock?
