S197 slaughter!
Haven't had a decent run in a couple months now, finally got one in.
The car belongs to a guy I know through a mutual friend. He just recently finished modding and was eager to get a run in with something more competitive than the usual import cars he hangs around with so I was all down for it. He didn't know too much about my car before the race, didn't know what power level I was at, what quarter mile e.t., trap speed - none of that. He just knew it was a bolt-on LS1 and figured his bolt-on S197 would be a good match so we set out. The first run was from a dead stop with him jumping just right before the third honk. Didn't matter though, by 2nd gear I had him and by the end of third into 4th I had a full bus length on this guy. We shut down just over 100, I slowed to get next to him and he says "let's do it again" and I reply "from a roll this time". We wen't from about a 35-ish roll and I walked him ever so easily. By the end of the run I probably had about 5-8 cars on him, it was really too far to tell to be honest, could have been more. I offered to give him another run be he declined stating "I don't have enough yet".
Anyhow we talked a little afterwards and I told him the full details on my car and he gave me the run down on his list of mods. Very clean looking black Mustang with chrome & black Steeda 18" wheels on it. His mods are EQ length shorty headers, Pypes high-flow catted H-pipe, Borla, C&L CAI, Steeda UDP, Bamachips on 93 octane tune, 4.10's, some type of perf. clutch can't remember, BMR front sway delete/radiator support, BMR LCA's, M/T streets. He said his best time was 12.6/109. My car is a '00 SS and mods are full bolt-ons (everything down to the rockers and ewp), HP Tuned by Force Fed Performance, lots and lots of weight reduction, full BMR/HAL/Hotchkis suspension, stock T-56, RAM VDS clutch, built 10-bolt, GM 4.30's recently installed, M/T ET streets. The car does have a 75-shot wet kit on hand but no bottle in the car right now. He said he is going to be purchasing a KB blower at income tax time. I told him i'll make sure to have plenty nitrous on tap! All in all good times.

I have a Level Ten 4L80 and 4200 stall converter sitting but I just can't fathom getting rid of the 6-speed. It's so much fun.

My trap is decent, I would like to set the record one day though. There have been LS1 F-bodies running in the mid-high 10's and trapping 121-123 in the 1/4 bolt-on only.

That's pretty cool, but you are evading my question
What is your race weight?

Nice kill Jay!
I have personally seen this car run at SRP numerous times and it runs HARD!! This guy was running about 5 tenths off of what my bolt-on/100-shot LS1 was running all night. It is not everyday you see a build like that.

Nice.
S197's are still my favorite target. #1 because they are everywhere and #2 most of the people that have one in my area are a little older and don't know a lot about Mustangs. They don't have a clue what they have and what I have so they aren't scared to race
