14.3 seems normal for an auto. And they are close. It's a driver's race.

The LS1 is what put a huge distance between the Mustang and the Fbodies.

This is correct. Transmission failure rate on them over 100k is HIGH, that's one of the main reasons I sold it.. mileage. The main main reason I sold it is because the fuel mileage was absolutely HORRIBLE. Like 10mpg in town, 15mpg highway.

I raced a non-pi GT with mufflers and absolutely destroyed him. I raced a 02 GT with ORX and Bassani and he had me by about a car untill I shifted in to 3rd, and at that time he put another car on me before we let off.

I've raced the same GT (that's how I actually met him, and he's since become one of my best buddies) in my LT1 Z28 with just a muffler and walked him.

So in my real world experience, owning both and racing both, an R/T is a good race for a stock GT, and an LT1 will edge out an R/T. Any more questions or internet numbers you want to throw out? Own one before talking. K Thx.

To everyone else talking, SR+K section has a rule stating you must be out of the 13s before you can talk ****. Take note, please.

Umm...Wut? By your own description both the GT and the LT1 beat your R/T. How is that any different than what I am saying?

A PI GT and LT1 are a close match stock for stock. I didn't know I have to own an R/T to do a simply comparison here.

Your buddy must have the bone stock auto record for a PI GT at Cordova then. lol. Because, everytime I see one there, they're running high 14's-low 15's. And that was even in -300 DA on openning day last year, when I ran the 13.2 in the Camaro. I was beginning to wonder if AOD 2V's were even mid-14 second contendors. lol

Hold on..

Where does anyone ever say that a PI GT has the edge on a LT1? Even on MustangForums they'll admit that an LT1 has the edge. An auto LT1 (with 3.23's) and a 5speed PI 2v would probably be neck and neck. But, a 6 speed LT1 should win everytime with equal drivers.

Let's look by model year here. . 93-97 LT1 Fbody > 93-97 GT. Any year for year comparison you want to look at (talking about 4th gens here) starting with 93, the Fbody beats the GT every time.

That is all.

For one, what car are you referring to?

For two, do you not think there are cars made in 93 that could have taken your car stock? (Or hell modded..) because there is.

A It doesn't bother me because I don't attach my self worth to my car.

*shrug*

And I have a stock GT, and have beaten 3 stock LT1s. I am not sure what you are trying to say.

Not sure about Cordova, but not even close to being the fastest time other places.

LAWL! Every time I'm at the track I constantly see LS1 fbodies running 14s. That must mean they all do!

Not in the mustang forums I've been to.

Before I raced my first one, I posted in a mustang board asking about them, not one person said "He's gonna win"

This forum is the only forum I've been to where people claim stock LT1s are faster than stock PI 2v GTs in a 1/4 race. It's also the only forum where I've been told a stock PI GT runs high 14s low 15s... This is also the first forum I've been to where I've been attacked for saying PI GTs can consistently do 13.9s. Again, not an attack on the forum. Most people here are decent and honest, and not fanboyish.

And I did win. I beat his older brothers stock MTX right after. Not sure if it was a 5 or 6 speed. The younger brother had a ATX.

It was a close race, I had him by a car length.

They both claimed to have a CAI.. but I still consider that stock.

I beat another one about a month ago on the freeway that was trying to pass me to act cocky. Having said that, I am sure if the race got above 110 he'd have taken me. 1/4 mile the GT has the advantage. Anything faster than that the LT1 car catches up.

BTW to those I talked to on the first page. I told you so

At the end of the day, they both have a 1/4 rating of high 13s low 14s. Though I've never personally seen a stock LT1 pull 13s. (Not saying it's not possible, so posting that "I am full of it cause so and so did this" would be silly)

I didn't even want to start this discussion. I ignored the original comment on purpose. I only said something after a regular GM owner in here commented that the PI GT was faster than a LT1. I figured since a non-mustang owner was stating it, people wouldn't be so flamey about it.

when stock and manual, an lt1 is faster than 5.0, 4.6, pi 4.6, and is a drivers race with the 3vs in my experience assuming all have a decent driver and are in good condotion. i know that last one can be hard to find when dealing with lt1s. i have no doubt a pi gt will go 13.9 but im basing my claims off of highish quarter times compared to my own, which is 13.7 paper filter stock.

I know that. It was mostly a joke. But, seriously, no auto 2v has ever run a decent time in the many times I've been to Cordova. It's not like they're difficult to launch either. And we usually have some pretty good air there. Not a bad track, as you can see S8ER95Z ran a 13.1 there in his bone stock LS1, which is better than most.

As for the mustang forums you go to not saying that. Maybe you should go to one with less fanboys then. Try MustangForums out and you might like it. There's a lot of knowlegdable people in there. And they know their ****. S8ER95Z will probably tell you the same thing. We both probably spend more time on there than anywhere else. lol

x2... fwiw the guy that had the car is a great driver and I believe the car pulled a 1.9 60ft right after a big event (meaning they actually prepped the track for once) and had very good air that night. All I know is my old LT1 was run bone stock in the summer at Cordova (it's been many years but I want to say DA was ~1500)... his 99 GT Auto was every bit of a match up for me and would pull me head to head while my other buddy lost by a couple cars in the 1/4 every time. Every 5 speed PI GT I have run against was typically mod for mod and usually a very close race. Once I put the CC306 in and had some headwork/headers and a stall in the car I stopped getting challenges but prior to that it seemed like I was running one every other weekend and I wasn't winning every time.

Either way it's hard for me to see someone compare a 3rd car in the mix and say the LT1 beats said car easily but said car easily beats the GT because the LT1 and the GT are just too close for that to make sense.

You GOT to be kidding... I mean the other stuff is questionable IMHO, but that .. I just don't know what to say.

So you've ran 13.7 with a stock LT1? If so, that certainly isn't the "norm" not like a PI GT running 13.9s. Not that 13.9s are the fastest PI GTs have went either.

I am not going to argue that at all. Why? It would be pretentious to. Who am I to say otherwise? On the same route, Here is another quote from someone else that has not seen a car run what it's supposed to in another forum.

Now does that mean a 2010 SS can't get out of the 14s? Not at all...

The one I go to doesn't have many fanboys. If you notice, there was a Z28 owner there pipping in too that said the same thing. I've seen more fanboys here than any other forum to be honest. The truth is, it's a driver's race. The 3 I've raced, I've beaten by a car length or more.

I'm a member there too. And S8ER95Z is agreeing with me on this. So have many Fbody owners over at moddedmustangs.

As I said, it's a driver's race between a stock LT1 and a 2V GT in the 1/4. The GT having the advantage IMHO.

Seems like your experience with them is typical with everyone else I've talked to.. but a few in here.

This is from another member here and the other mustang forum I go to. This forum just came up in the conversation.

...I made an account there (ls1tech.com) to post up my story of racing a SS 2010 Camaro with manual transmission/ls3, in my nearly stock 5 speed gt.

All over my post, I put that I know exactly what the v8 in those cars sound like, and that there's no doubt it was a v8, and that the guy obviously couldn't drive because I couldn't see how he didn't leave me behind.

I've got a supercharged LS2 Corvette, 2 LT1 trans ams, and an LS1 Trans Am, and these guys just couldn't stop saying that it's simply impossible for it to have happened, that I was making bs up, and that I had to be wrong and had to have raced a v6 since OBVIOUSLY stock for stock a new v6 camaro that has less torque, weighs a lot more will beat a mustang gt without any trouble at all.

I like my GM cars, love the engines and transmissions, but all I ever see is them being cocky and ******** to everyone. Obviously they aren't all like that, there's quite a few nice guys, but it's like it goes to their head.

I know two guys that had 4.6 2 Valves, acted normal, and they've had LT1 Trans Ams for the past year or so and now think they're the fastest things on the road and talk **** about how they can whip my LS1's ***(My LS1 has intake, exhaust, dyno tune, gears, compared to their flowmasters)
Again, not an attack on THIS forum. For the most part, the forum isn't bad at all.

Though I assure you, moddedmustangs isn't full of fanboys. Anyone in there even ATTEMPTING to pull bullshit gets knocked down a few notches. Even worse so if they own a Mustang.

It's one of the main reasons I stay there. Well that, and the place is a blast.
