What's Wrong With My Ride?
The other day I was driving to work and came up to a Z28 (looked bone stock had a new paper plate like the guy just bought it). I saw that it had the stock muffler and assumed that it was just a stock ride. I passed him and when I pulled up beside him it was an older man about late 30s maybe mid 40s. I didn't think anything as I pass but then he comes flying up next to me like he wants to race. I just laughed a little and shifted into 5th and kept going. Then the dude did it again and I thought what the heck I do it. So I down shift to 4th and take off and see him come flying up behind and we hit a bit of traffic and both backed off. Once we cleared the cars, we hit the gas again and took off. I had him all through 4th but he edged up quick. The Z never got passed me but he kept up too easily. We got up to 120 and I think I should have been able to pull on him a little more. What do you think?

I think you need a Chevy. Even Fbirds and Cams are the same the bowtie adds 500 HP. Just buy one and hide it in your trunk. You are sure to win. And, if that does not work buy a bullitt sticker and you can beat Vipers.

Sounds like you were in the wrong gear to me. You downshifted into 4th?
What mph? Most likely you'll want to drop it to 3rd or even 2nd if you're going slow enough.
I'm sure you already know this, but the Z28 has the same motor as you do and I don't see any mods in your sig.

I know all the FBodies are all the same. I have driven Z's, SS's, TA's, & Formulas and they are equally as fast (minute differences). I am just joking and waving the bowtie.

I don't understand this post at all. You have a stock WS6 .... lid doesn't count for much .... why would you be surprised that he kept up with you ???
Btw, I am thinking you were 100% in the wrong gear .... 3rd gear ends around 105 or so ... so unless you were going faster then say 80, you should've been in third, not fourth. Also, if you "had him all through 4th" .... how fast did this race goto? .... since 4th gear ends around 135mph.

I agree 100%
Dude, a lid is worth at most 15hp. Most prob. around 7-10hp.
What did you expect as an outcome?

It is worth alot more HP than that! That's why I picked the WS6 over the T/A! Just ask phantom, and you'll see that they come with 521HP STOCK!
You guys are harsh. Glad yall didn't f with me this much, I might have pulled a bullitt and cried about it.
Red WS6, I just think it's time for mods.

the only way the ram air nostrils on the T/A become really useful is if you take the baffles out and seal it to the airbox, then you might pick up a .1 in the 1/4, not really enough to notice. time for mods.

I think it is most definately wrong gear selection. But, let us not be a bad influence on the baffled TA owner. He may over rev and kill his car. Let him take it slow. By the way, what are the top speeds for all of the gears (I just kinda go till the needle says next, and my car is a slush box, so I do not get to drive the M6's that much).

I know I should have dropped to 3rd but at 6:00 in the morning I'm still asleep . I didn't expect to have the guy race me. Also I haven’t had the car for long and still am getting used to it. One last thing I have raced a reg. TA and I was able to pull away a bit more. Cut me some slack I'm a rookie!
