Mach 1 m5 vs a4 98 ss
Tale of the tape:
Mach1: H pipe, loudmouth 1 cat back, pretty decent driver
SS: 3.42 gears lid bbk tb trans tuning ( I adjusted shift points line pressure.) Full slp headers to tips
Was a very nice mach. Torch red air force guy so car is new in the area. He came up to local spot looking for a run and we lined him up with my buddies car.
Two races both same outcome.
50 roll: both launch clean. Mustang pulls prolly 1/3 of a car before the shift. Gently pulling through the whole band and as a passenger in the ss we were at his rear bumper.
55ish: same mustang ahead by about 1 1/2 cars.
Btw we got him to run a 306 (cough 347 cough) in a foxbody. Driver of the fox was playing around and cleared him by 5.

Ya I ment five speed.. A4 mean automatic 4 speed.
You always here that mach 1's are a "drivers race" but in my experience their faster than fbodys. This is not my first outing with lightly modded machs. They just seem to have an on basic bolt on setups. And before any people with 50 posts start in with " whatever noob mustang owner get back to svtp!" I was in the fbody and drive a formula. So you know which way I wanted the race to go

When my car old (A4) car was full boltons it went 12.6@111 and I never lost to any stock or bolt on mach 1. I had a couple of close runs from a dig but as speeds increased i would pull away. if i could find one around here i would like to get a run on video.

A Mach 1 with the right bolt ons and a good driver is nothing to joke around with if you are a bolt on LS1...
4.30 gears, longtubes, intake, spacer, shifter....thats a low 12 second car.

60' whoa
330' 2.0
1/8th 5.1 @145
1/4 too fast to calculate. about 7.90 @191. It's what motor trend ran.

Those mods with a tune should have 'made up' power wise what the A4 tranny robs. And that mach is no more than ~280rwhp without a tune.
I love machs.....but IDK.
Sup man!!!

not that it means anything, but i agree with this guy, on the stock converter in the a4 ls1 f-body, i give a little edge to the mach, stalled, I'd say the ls1 will get a jump that the mach wont be able to make back up.

here you go again, want a cookie? who cares what you like or think. Its a build in progress why does it matter its beside the point. I have ran my far share of mach 1's and the only one that I ever lost to in my old car (12.6 @111 car) was a mach that had slicks and full bolt ons and we went from a dig other then that I have beat every single stock or bolt on mach 1 i have ever raced and i won by 1 - 2.5 cars everytime. Im not saying I wont lose to one im just saying i havent but i would be more then glad to run one thats stock or has bolt ons on video if you know of any in this area.

Thanks Pony. Ill tape what happens. His car is not tuned and I am not sure if he has a X or H pipe with those headers. He let someone do one pass at 75/80 which is a slow track and the car went 13.0s. I am betting with a good launch at Cecil its a 12.7 car. He needs gears-bad....
If any bolt on Machs are reading this and your are in the PA,MD,DC area we can run and tape it

FYI......if he truly has a FULL exhaust as in headers back, and CAI, etc. withOUT a tune; he's not only robbing himself of power, he's putting a lot of strain on that motor and I would be willing to bet a hefty amount that he's running pretty darn lean at WOT. If he wants to keep his motor, he'd better look into getting his A/F checked and tuned. The stock ECU will NOT adjust for that. If he's a friend of yours, I'd pass that along to him. (btw, I've owned two machs.....so I'm a tad familiar with them. )
