Default question about a 02ws6 vs 04 srt4

so i raced i a red skittle the other day he pulled up next to me in my 02 ws6 mods: qtp cutout, slp y pipe/catback, mti lid, ls6 intake. we hit it off and surprisingly he stuck with me all the way to top of 5th. after the race i asked him what he had done and he said a full stage 2 kit with full exhaust, big front mount intercooler, ported tb and a tune. should this have happened????

Yeah I agree that it definitely could have happened. Those skittles aren't a joke. Plus he has a weight advantage on you. Good Run mod up and you'll get him next time.

What speed did you race at? If it was from a dig how bad did you spin or bog? I agree that skittles are great cars from a roll but when they start getting some decent power to the ground they cant launch for ****.

Without a doubt. I've driven in one that was boosted up a bit more than stock and the pull was pretty damn impressive. I don't have a clue about them when it comes to mods or which stage is which and puts out that. But I do know this thing rolled out. And supposedly it's extremely easy and inexpensive to make these things fast.

But regardless of how fast it was, I was still left with that feeling that it was a Neon at the end of the ride.

some of the mopar stg2 kits and most stg3 kits have the toys kit. which has a DAB (dial a boost), to have different boost settings, and HOM (high octane mode) for use with race gas, which advances the timing

A good friend of mine has an 04 model SRT-4, big front-mount, aftermarket waste gate, and a tune running something like 16 psi off the stock turbo. Car went a best of 13.9 at Tulsa Raceway Park on 555r's. Kind of a close comparison for you..

Actually the 1/4 mile times show that you should race them from a dig. They can't 60ft well to save their lives, but they trap fairly high. A stock turbo can easily be made to trap 110mph, but won't even be in the 12s unless they have slicks and can drive.

I had a ported stock setup that looked exactly like a stocker from the outside before the big turbo, and it went 12.7 @ 117mph w/2.1 60ft with DRs. From a roll it was killer. I haven't gotten the big turbo setup dialed in at the track yet but it went 13.3@117 w/2.4 60ft on street tires at 21psi. The setup will go safely to 26 or so, but I was waiting for the tires and wheels.

sounds like a traction issue, or maybe the driver was to heavy with the right foot. What was the trap?

For the OP honestly i think the srt-4 owner might have been wondering how you were keeping up with him.

Watch out for those things on the highway if they've been modded up at all. They move out. I've run into a couple that were very impressive. Based on what I've seen, I'm not at all surprised with those results.
