Dynos are merely tuning tools, some read high some read low. Suspension and tires usually have to do more with traction than the track itself. You can't blame the track if you tried to run on nittos or something silly like that with that much power. I was merely pointing out that other guys around 490 rwhp have ran 127-131 mph traps, the real indication of power. You asked for an understanding, I tried to explain.
Good runs anyways, always nice seeing n/a cars beat on those FI cars.

Maybe? I trapped 98mph in the 1/8 and trapped 123mph in the 1/4 with a stock bottom end LS1 H/C/I Camaro. A good running N/A motor will normally pick up between 25-29mph between the 1/8 and the 1/4. So that means you would have trapped about 120-124mph if you have a good running car.

I am giving you my opinion as to what I would do. You know IMHO.
A non-forged shortblock wont last long if you go WOT with it all the time at near 500rwhp speeds. How do we know this? They have a habit of explodination (that's a real scientific word folks!) with that much HP with the stock internals. If I missed something else you've said, I deeply apologize.

I said
"A non-forged shortblock wont last long if you go WOT with it all the time at near 500rwhp speeds."
I don't consider 450 near 500. Anything above 400-450 without forged rods is asking for it.

For a 2V, sure. But 3Vs just flow so much better, 400rwhp is pretty low.

I read the thread fully. I read that you said it was all in the tune.

My opinion is that 3v's are good for 475 to just shy of 500rwhp as long as the tune is good. This is based on a TON of 3v guys doing it and not having issues. The people having issues are usually operator error or a faulty tune.
I guess someone somewhere asked what I trap. With the new clutch I'm not sure, but before I replaced the clutch I trapped 121mph.

I think it was just me shifting slow. Could of been 2 lengths if I didn't doze off on the 2-3 shift.
That said the Mach runs really hard for only 467. My car is maybe 200 lbs lighter. I weigh 100 lbs more than the driver.
My car did 487 on one dyno and 495 on the other. That was in much colder weather. Both dynojets.

You can have a 600rwhp stock motor Mach 1 and it live for 100,000 miles if you never get on it. But I can tell you first hand if you go WOT a good bit a stock shortblock WILL NOT live 30,000 miles @ 500rwhp. When my 99 Cobra motor was on the engine stand you could turn it upside down and it sounded like a piggy bank. 4 broken rods and ruined the crank.
you are a tool just like everyone else saying it wont last it wont last. Its all in the tune not the hp. There is such things as safe 475rwhp tunes and unsafe 475rwhp tunes. One will blow the other will go. Just got to take it somewhere thats not gonna **** up the tune.

Yes I shift my car at 7k in every gear. With a stock clutch stock trans stock cams/springs, etc. The car has been boosted for 20k miles (12k miles from me) and I beat the living **** out of it EVERY single day for the last 8 month. While a friend of mine made 8 more rwhp on his eaton mach 1 and it lasted a week at 6k shifts. Its ALL in the tune
Have you posted a dyno sheet here or the registry? (and no I'm not calling you out. I'm just curious to know your power curves.)
ANd BTW, Stopsign said 500rwhp and I'm sure he was refering to SAE. That's a tad different than 462 STD. It's more like ~450 SAE roughly.
EDIT: just saw your sheet up on the registry........personally I think 7k is too high looking at your powerband and the gearing of the 3650. 6800-7000 is fine for first gear, but after that you are shifting too high. NExt time you are racing try shifting a tad lower to get some pull in teh next gear. Stopsign knows what I'm talking about.

I didn't make that comment based off reliability.

I made an excell program to show your speed at all rpm in each gear given what ever gear ratios tire size and rear end ratio that I put in. This is what I found if I shift at 7k. 1st gear 7k shift it will drop to 4200 (340rwhp) in 2nd. 7k shift out of 2nd will drop to 4600 (365rwhp) in 3rd. 7k shift drops to 5300 (420rwhp) in 4th. If I do the same for 6500 shifts the hp is much lower and trq pretty mucc the same since my trq curve is damn near flat 400rwtrq from 2500 to 6k with it peaking at 425 trq

I beat the **** out of the car because I dont expect to make it to 100k with this bottom end so why not have fun with the car the way it is now. It will one day get a built bottom end but that will come the day after it blows the **** up lol

The car I am racing in this video is a white 03 cobra with ported blower 2.8 pulley longtubes etc. Makes 533rwhp and he beat me by 1 car length. He is also not full weight.
