Default Cobra's are fast...

A new edge mustang was on my "must race" list of vehicles.

I've already checked off a few.. But I would just be happy racing a GT.

Anyways, back on topic. I see a DSG Mustang up ahead. Its about 10:30 at night and the weathers perfect. I have my t-tops off, and I speed up to check this mustang out.

I get closer and see "COBRA" on the back bumper.

I didnt know how to play this off... Should I go up and try to be a man and see if he wants to play with my little old Bolt-on LS1? Or back off and save my dignity?

This thing was pretty loud too.. IDK much about them, but it definately wasnt stock!

I finally get up to his door.. Cobra owner looks over and smiles.. I'm sitting in my SS with a terrified look on my face, thinking to myself "WTF MIKE! Are you an idiot! ITS A ******* COBRA!!! You coulda just stayed back and kept your dignity.. But NO!"

We both slow down to 40.. He down shifts and I hear his supercharger scream.. Great! I'm racing a friggen jet!! I procede to downshift too, and he honks it off. I'm in second... By the top of second gear, he'd a solid 5 cars up. 3rd gear.. Another 5 or so cars (Its really hard to estimate when you're THAT far behind..), 4th.. Forget it. He was gone.

I felt like one of those ricers I lay the smack down on.

He slowed back down and we both give eachother a thumbs up. Cool guy.

I am wondering what is done to the car. I was walked pretty bad... I expected it from the beginning, but 15+ cars through 3 gears?

But anyways.. Note to self: Cobra's are fast!

Chances are he was just an average Pulley/tune/exhaust car... Neighborhood of 450-470Rwhp depending on tune and pulley setup.
They run hard from a roll!

Get a few more mods on your belt and go back after him. Cobras taste like chicken!

Good death and well written thread. It wouldn't take much for you to even the playing fields with Mr. Cobra.

The cobra had to of been more than just a pulley to walk him that hard.

Why would you think that? His car makes what 350Rwhp? An average pulley Cobra is making 450+Rwhp. His car traps what? 110-112mph? Average pulley Cobra traps 118-122mph. So yes, a pullied Cobra could *** rape him that bad.

You ran into a half *** decent one on the highway yet? I got a buddy with a ported/pullied Cobra.. Don't worry though, he only makes 515Rwhp/530Rwtq.. Only running bottom 11s @ 122+mph... Slow, right? You are calling Cobras slow but yet run BARELY faster than what a stock Cobra runs. Awesome man.

Funny. I have raced plenty pullied cobras. One which was ported/pullied. I haven't lost yet. I didn't say I was fast. I'm saying cobras are not that fast. It's not impossible to beat one with a n/a ls1.

You are running some pretty poorly setup Cobras. A properly setup ported Cobra would drag you.

You don't have to tell me about beating them in a NA ls1.

I don't know about "crazy", but they hold their own. An ls1 with 5k in it should be quicker than a Cobra with 5k in it. Unless the ls1 owner doesn't know how to properly build his car.

The only reason their fast is because they are almost all extensively modded. Find a stock one... They're not that fast.

Might **** you off if you are in a stock 2010 though!

They are no slouches by ANY means, but also not as much as some people talk them up.

I would say I know you are kidding but sometimes you just don't know.

Just to make sure. With a decent driver... high 12s@112-113mph or so...

Took the words out of my mouth. I don't care what you have, running up on a 03/04 Cobra will put a knot in your throat. No telling wtf they have done.

That pisses me off more than anything... No telling if you running up on a poorly set up pullied Cobra making 430Rwhp or a whipple/KB making 650+Rwhp.
