Sorry but this thread is full of fail.
Of course a stock 600 ridden by a squid who cant even wheelie will lose to a H/C V8 from a highway roll. I forgot people start races from 65mph now, silly me is still in the dig train of thought.
If you think its not easy to ride 10s on a stock 600 then you haven't ridden one in the last 5 years. My first time on the track with my 07(I've ridden for around 13 years but never drag raced a bike at a strip before) down to the stock BT104 tires was an 11.1 @ 124 - bogging down hard on launch since I had no idea how it would react. That was my first run ever on the bike, and made two other runs that day, both 10.9x@126mph.
To compare, the new zx6r runs 10.7-10.9 and traps 130mph bone factory stock. Professional riders are getting 10.5/10.6s out of them.
Being a few tenths into the 10's straight off the showroom floor doesn't sound slow to me, especially coming from a site full of cars that mostly run high 11s or 12s

Nobody is saying that 600s are slow. Just that they are slower up top than a surprising number of cars on this site.

What does not being able to ride a wheelie have ANYTHING to do with running from 60mph?
Most people you run into on the street on bikes are going to want to do a roll because they can't or are not comfortable launching their bike.
I have road many different bikes in the past 4 years ranging from old Katanas that can't get out of their way to brand new liter bikes to cruisers.
The majority of people on the street have been riding (from my experience) 1-6 years.. Rarely do people race them, especially from a dig. They either stunt them or take them to the mountains. The majority of 600s I see at the track run low 7s @ high 90mph.. After that 90mph they stop pulling so hard.
The majority of the bikes on the street are not made within the last 2 years. The majority are 2002-2007.
You are talking above average bikes/riders/etc etc etc.. I am talking average bikes/riders/etc etc etc that you run into on the street.
You can't take the rider out of the equation when talking about averages for people you race on 600s on the street. Kind of defeat the purpose.

FWIW, to make you happy.. Most people don't understand that bikes are better from a dig than a roll with a competent rider doing both.
It doesn't take much anymore these days to run 140mph trap speeds.. It takes a nice little bit to run mid 9s. Bikes are quick.. But 600s are VERY beatable from 60 rolls, which is what is being discussed. An 02 R6 with a competent rider *should beat stopsigns car in the 1/4.. It would be very close but I think the R6 would get him by .2-.3 with him pulling back on it.

Sounds like a lot of fun. How's traction? I'm thinking a good poked stroked LS1 pushing 500+rwhp and a shot of the sauce would be a fun little car. I'm guessing that even with a decent handling suspension it would still hook up on sticky tires in the 500-550 rwhp range, but couldn't imagine hooking up beyond 600.

If they went from a dig, the bike *should* get off the line faster. From a roll against a stock/stock-ish '02 R6 (or a similar bike), a ~450rwhp 3300lb Mustang should do just fine.

How do you know it would have taken him a while to catch up? He might be able to launch his bike properly and jump out 5 lengths.
Speculation man.. What happened, happened. 3 honks or not, that 600 is slower from a 50+ roll than his car, I assure you that.

Slick looking 'stang, I loved the cobra's when I was a little kid, they were out of my price range when I was starting to look for my first ride though. The 5.0 that I see around looks just like yours, I'm sure his is just a basic bolt on affair though, he had a hard time keeping up with me just pedaling it.

The next cool night I get I plan to take it to a local 1/8th and run it on the Nittos. Would have gone last week but couldn't get the brakes to stop leaking (damn copper washers!) so I didn't make it. But on the crappy 275 Nittos I am hoping for it to run 7.5. I'm expecting 7.7 but would like 7.5. I think if I can get that out of the Nittos I might can get low low low low 7's on slicks of possibly high 6's. If not I have a couple more tricks in my sleeve.
