2009 370z vs 2009 cobalt ss
#22
Well the truth is the Z has no competition for the $ and it's class. It's a RWD 2 dr sportscar. I don't want to hear Camaro SS, SRT8, or 5.0 comparisons. I want a good eye for an eye comparison with the 370z and another car in it's price range and class that's being produced TODAY.
There's hardly any if none at all... it's a strange car that's not got quite the power of a new muscle car but has more power than an MS3 or a Cobalt or a Neon or... whatever. It's a very "middle of the road" sportscar that's still pretty cool, fun to drive, and great looking.
Let's be serious though, it's not a god machine but it's still impressive and a blast. Plus.. if you've never driven the 370z I think the car makes me feel real confident and it feels pretty tight through corners or spirited driving...
Bang for the buck for modded cars?? Obviously the one with the turbo...

Uhm i think the 5.0 would be a great comparison to the 370Z. and it is being produced TODAY and is right in the price range. Also a base model 335i is another choice as well i believe.
Its a choice not THE choice.

The 135i has a back seat and I agree the performance is similar with an edge to the Z of course the 135i just needs a tune and it would destroy a bolt-on Z but that's modded cars. Let's also not forget the base 135i is a bit more expensive.
The Z4 sDrive35i... I'm really glad you mentioned that. Notice how I mention price not just pure performance... the base Z4 sDrive35i is a wopping $50k+ and that's bare bone options.

and out of those i'd take either of those bmw's they get really good gains from a tune, but for the money i'd still just man up a buy a used c5z06 or used 08 ls3 vette.
and since u keep complaining about price then it sounds like u just dont like the fact that their is a better car out there in ur "class" in every way

370Z owners make me
I have only met one cool 370Z owner. He pulled up next to me at a light and said how bad *** my car and license plate frame was. He is probably the only cool guy out there that owns a 370Z, the rest just seem to be douche bags that honestly think they can keep up with my modded Z06 what ever reason.

500 dollar tune and it's game over for the 370z "sports car".

When have I ever complained about price? I'm just saying that in terms of a 2 dr, 2 seat RWD sportscar there isn't a real competitor for that price. Yes, you can argue the 135i is a competitor and negating the backseat it is! But I wasn't looking for a backseat and so I went with the cheaper price... I don't care if there's a car in my class that's better than me in every way. I just wanted a new sportscar on a budget and the 370z was appealing to me. Plus, I like the overall design and feel of the interior... it feels a bit like being in a plane cockpit and I find it comfortable!
Besides, I'm not much of BMW guy!
I'm happy driving what I want and that's what I'm driving.. not whatever you tell me is the better car for me.

are you like the z06 owner in the video that got raped by the 350z? you sure seem butt hurt over Zs.
whats funny is im right now watching vidoes of cobalts with the trifecta tune running 20 psi, intake, muffler delete and shortthrow shifter... and he ran 13.6@106.... obviously thats game over for a 370z........... noway i could beat that... anyhow... maybe eventually this cat will get a tune in the cobalt and we can run again

Pst... he used to have a T/A.
If you are talking about used cars, does that mean everybody that buys a new C6Z06 is an idiot? Cuz for the money, there are definitely cars that you could make way faster. And while you are thinking about the reasons why you don't think that, apply it to the 370Z as well.

cobalt ss run high 13's at best stock around what 102mph? 370s low low 13's around 106-107. sorry just not much of a race. and i hope sopmeone isnt saying a cobalt ss with the GM tune is a beast..... or even an aftermarket tune alone. there still 13 second cars. its so goofy to say hey watchout for this or that. hey watchout for that h22 swap or, watch out for that cammed this.. has the standards for what a "beast" is gotten slower a gm or aftermarket tune cobalt is not a beast......... and slick. would need more than that on a supercharged balt to beat a 370z or he wasnt trying or maybe need a driver mod. because that setup isnt a low 13 car just my opinion. but anything can happen on the street. something would be wrong for me not to put car lenghts on a car that im faster than on topend and down low

In really great conditions, yeah I'd say it's a low 13's car stock... more realistically though the car is a lower-mid 13's car.. 13.4 - 13.6 seem to be more common (mainly with m/t) and A7 being slightly faster. Really it's up to the driver and weather.
