Default turbo SHO vs LS6 converted Vette

This was an 01 Corvette with an LS6 conversion. He had headers, borla, lid/airbox, and was tuned for 392whp. Fairly healthy Vette. Also had some sweet rounded HID headlights in place of the pop-ups. We raced once before when he had a light bolt-on LS1. Something like 320whp I think. I won that one fairly easily, and that was when I was missing 3rd gear. This time was different though, as he was much healthier now.

We went on a three count, him near the top of 2nd, me @ 4500 or so in third. He gets a good couple of feet in 2nd, but we are nearly dead even through third. Near 100 I am gaining, and by 120 am starting to pull. Ended @ about 120 with the SHO a nose ahead. A very close race, and we got video from both cars (will be up soon). That Vette sounded very nice. BTW, I had dyno'd the night before with some new bests - 388whp, 394ft lbs (just in case anyone is quick to call BS). Not a Z06 kill, but I count this better, since he had the Z06 engine and then some. Not sure on the wieght difference between a regular C5 and a Z06, but that 32whp should more than make up for it.

Hey Toolman where do you live? I think I have seen a vette around here with those headlights. It looked pretty sweet. Sounds like you have a pretty fast car there.

Thanks guys. Brando, he used to live in Tulsa but now resides in Arlington. That is where the race took place. You can see the race here (link above) if you don't mind watching some other races too. I will have the Vette only race up later.

Those are nasty sleepers. Bad *** for sure. You SHO guys are forcing me to look into a little 427 mod action.

1/4 mile? What is that? Seriously though, had we gone from a dig, the Vette and L would have killed me (unless we went for a 1/2 mile! ). 412ft lbs and fwd street tires do not mix. I am looking into some drag radials to help bring my 60' down and make 1st and 2nd gear usable to their potential, but until then I will be relegated the the 13's with crazy trap speeds (last time out 13.5 @ 115, and that was with 358 ft lbs tq).

SHOs are pretty badass. my 90 has like 150 on the clock and can still whoop up on most any rice around here.personally, i think the SHO is the ultimate cult sports car

388whp and 394ft lbs
430whp and 412ft lbs with intercooler sprayer activated.

Since I did not use my IC sprayer on the Vette run, I quoted the dyno numbers that represented that. Sorry for any confusion.

Freak that, go with some slicks for that kinda torque steer...

I dont get it? A heavier car with less power, a smaller powerband and higher drag coefficient wins? Something doesnt add up. Maybe the vette was stock or was LS6 cammed or something. The vid looked like you pulled as he shifted then you slammed the brakes. Dont mean to be an *** hole. Something just doesnt make sense here?
