Damn that thing launched pretty hard. Those things are really fast for a 4-banger and can become extremely fast modded. I have yet to get raped by one, but I am looking forward to it.

He dropped the clutch off the limiter on the street I would still be sitting there spinning.

Definitely can be quick. I wouldn't call them extremely fast. Nine second cars are fast. Eleven second cars are quick. I doubt most STI's will ever see an 11.

I don't think that tranny will last too long doing 6k drops....but that's the way you do it!!

The SS was catching up fast though.....the SS stopped too soon. I'll bet in a full 1/4 the SS wins.

Yep, the guy in the SS couldn't drive worth crap. Talk about grannyshifting and no launch at all. STI's are cool, until you rag the drive train and the dealer doesn't honor the warrenty due to abuse. That's getting pretty common with the WRX's and STI's. Launching at such a high RPM is great an all for speed but only for so long.

A girl in my complex has a red EVO......she ran a 15.6 at Moroso. Pretty sad!! She also blew her clutch with only 2k on it...the dealer refused to cover it under warranty. Gee.....I wonder why??

02SS.......are you going to MMP tomorrow?

So there would be no difference in ET if he launched at lets say 1 grand? I believe it does matter with an AWD car. Physics deems he'll get up to speed faster launching at a high RPM because with AWD and low torque he won't spend all day spinning and he'll be in his powerband sooner.

lol picky. I was using speed as a generic term. STI's don't spin much though so wouldn't it also help there mph in the quarter also. What would the difference in mph be in lets say a 1 grand launch and a 6 grand launch?

From what I've read over at the WRX forums...the mph is pretty consistent regardless...but the ETs are all in the launch in those.

If you race an STi or Evo from a dig......make sure you take past the 1/8th mark. They slow waaaaaay down from that point as the drivetrain loss of the AWD really starts to take it's toll. Just don't stop until he does.....because you WILL catch up!

Sorry about that.

It's odd, but a spinning 60' generally results in a higher mph while a dead hook gets a better ET and slightly lower mph.

No problem, I frequent the WRX board, since I use to own one, I like to keep up with whats happening with them. My WRX could run 13.2's-13.4's at around 99 MPH. Talk about all in the launch...they have nowhere near the topend power of a LS1, unless you dump some $$$ in the cars.

I was looking to buy a WRX and dump a couple grand into to make it fast....I was on the WRX forums for several months......but then I called my insurance company and found out that insuring the WS6 was only about $30 more per month...........I'm able to afford that!!!

The rest is history.............
