Cammed SS vs Modded Evo
Ran into an evo the other night that claimed 370 to the wheels on stock turbo. Im guessing thats full bolt on and cams(not too sure). My car made 376 to the wheels through a 12 bolt. I might be wrong but i feel like my car shoulda pulled harder up top. what do you guys think? should i start diagnosing my car? or was that outcome expected? mods in sig

total bullshit, he lied to you to bait you into a race. especially from a roll. with your gears, cam, and exhaust, you shoulda pulled him better. I'm not saying anything is wrong with your car, im saying he pulled a fast one on you. i bet he has a lot more than he told you.

Coming from a Mitsu guy, this seems completely accurate.
400whp is attainable on the stock turbo with bigger cams and lots of boost, 370whp is common on stock turbo cars with decent parts/tuning.
He makes the same WHP you do, likely makes more torque, weighs less, and has better gear ratios. While you do have a low final drive, he has a close ratio box, which does a lot to keep the car in the meat of the powerband.
The outcome is expected.

I would expect torque to be in the high 200's at best.

Small turbos usually have a higher torque number than horsepower.

On a honda, yes. Mitsu head design is very different, and that is reflected in midrange power.
The fbody might have more TQ, but not by much.
Many small turbo mitsu's running high psi make a lot of midrange TQ because thats where the turbo is most efficient. The key is getting near the limits of the turbo. If you're not near the max of the turbo, you will see a lot less torque. Going from 23 psi -> 32, my car gained some top end for sure, but most noticeable gain was the midrange TQ hit.
Here's a dyno from a small turbo car on 27psi. A stock turbo is a little smaller, and would produce TQ number even closer to the max hp if run at high boost.

Sucks to hear I expected a little better but It sounds like he has more mods than he's willing to tell. that is almost ALWAYS true when it comes to the import driver trying to race a muscle car or american car.
I think your cam is pretty mild too but now you need to do cylinder heads and a slightly more aggressive cam and make sure this doesnt happen again
Your car sounds sweet by the way. You won in my book. As far as im concerned that little pos is still a subaru. the ONLY thing making him happy that night was that he won. he's still driving a pos.
Wanted to also add that your 3.90 gears are slowing you down in roll-ons like that. a 3.73 or a stock rear gear is ideal for higher speed roll -ons.

Why is a Camaro better than a WRX or Evo? (and btw an Evo isn't a Subaru)
