Default 01 SS Cam/Intake vs 04 Pullied Terminator

Cliff notes: Beat 04 Termi 4 times 4-5 months ago. Both cars just had recent work done. Raced 3 times again with me winning all the races. His car ended up smoking at the end on the side of the road.

Last night I had a run with a buddy who just got his 04 Termi a pulley and a tune. He dyno'ed 446/451 with just the pulley, tune, and mufflers. I just recently had a cam and intake installed and made 415/386.

About 4-5 months ago I beat him 4 out of 4 races when I was headers/tune only running 12.4s. He had stock Termi with mufflers then and I pulled 1.5-2 cars every race.

FFwd to last night he just got his car back from the tuner and wanted a rematch. We ran 3 times and I beat him every time again lol.

We both had similar weight passengers, both T56 as well.

- 1st run was from 45 roll 2nd gear. We hit at the same time and were dead even until about 110-115 when I preceded to pull him until he was at my back bumper and we let off at the top of 4th.

- 2nd run was from 35 roll 1st gear. This is my sweet spot. We hit at the same time again and I immediately pulled him to my back bumper and by the top of 4th gear I had him by about 1.5-2 cars.

- 3rd run was from 55 roll 2nd gear, also more of a sweet spot then 45 2nd gear roll. This time I closed my cutout to see if there would be a difference. We hit the same time and I pulled him by about 1 - 1.5 cars.

Overall they were great races and I was very impressed with his car's performance. He is pushing 14lbs on the stock blower unported.

After the 3rd race his car started to smoke and we pulled off the road. We think it was either the clutch smoking or a head gasket. I since haven't heard exactly what it was.

You have a very strong running car and a driver mod to beat him. His slipping clutch and possible head gasket problems dont help him though lol. Nice kill

nice runs, but those numbers are low for a pullied cobra. those runs sound about right with power and wieght of both cars.

thanks man.. I am pleased so far with the performance of my car.. not so much down low but top end it screams.. he said he just got a new clutch a couple months ago so that would suck if he had to get a new one

446/451 is low for a pullied cobra nothing else done except replaced mufflers with more free flow type? Thats pretty crazy if so

I had a feeling I'd be pulling him in 4th gear and I did.. Maybe due to the fact that I have done some weight reduction but not much.. deleted A/C and spare tire gone along with jack.. guess 75ish lbs less helps

actually 415 seems pretty low lol.. it should be around 420-425 easy.. I made 402 cam only.. intake added 13rwhp.. dyno done in 96 degree heat in middle of day so I'm sure I'm loosing some power there. I saw ur thread on ur 408. You will get it figured out bro

A good sized cam with a FAST 92 setup, supporting bolt-ons, and a stock M6 drivetrain? 415 is strong but nothing too crazy. HP/TQ numbers are right on part with my brother's car when it was cam-only with the stock drivetrain and he had the stock LS6 intake on there and a similar sized cam with a lot less lift. Cam only LS1's are all over the place.

Nice races, OP. Hope it wasn't a head gasket for him but motor problems or a slipping clutch could mean his car wasn't running 100%. Hopefully he gets it sorted out and you guys can run again. Do you know what size pulley he was running? It makes a difference in power levels on the pullied Cobras.

I haven't gotten any good runs yet. The cam doesn't like to get up and go in low rpm so I get REALLY shitty 60 fts which limit my trap speed. But I am trapping 115 with 2.5 or worse 60s lol

Also, I have raced a Magnacharged GTO puttin down 495 rwhp and 430+ tq not sure exactly what, and I beat him pretty easily from a roll that is. He has run a best of 11.13 at 123.

There is absolutely no reason you should have pulled at all on a car trapping 123 with your setup and power. I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm just saying something was definitely up. If that car you pulled was a 123 trap car, then based on that video, you should be trapping high 120's at least.

Let me clarify that is his BEST time/trap speed ever and hasn't been able to duplicate it since.

here's another vid I believe 2nd gear 50-55 roll.

Like I said, I'm not saying it didn't happen; there are way too many variables on the street and between cars. I'm just saying if his car is even a 120 trap car on a mediocre run and yours is a 118 car on a strong run (so dropping 3mph off his time PLUS adding 3mph to yours), he should still be creeping on you, not getting yanked liked he was in the wrong gear and shifting at 5,000 RPMs, which is basically how bad you pulled him in that first video. It looks like he hung much better in the second until he missed a shift or something.

Thanks for sharing the vids.

that's fine we planned to race a couple more times so I will post those vids too.. I never said my car only traps 118.. I don't know what it traps and I won't know without a rear end to launch with.

Here is a race with an 05 Evo pushing 420-30ish awd hp from I believe 35 roll. He starts 1/2 car ahead as you can see. His car is faaaaast! We have ran many more times after this and depending on the driver we are edging each other.

Damn, apparently you can't be beat no matter the horsepower disparity.

haha I've been beat pretty bad before.. by a 2008-9 Viper SRT-10 lol. We ran from 35-125 for me and 180 for him it seemed like lol.. I had him by 1/4 a car until about 110-112 he came roaring by like nobodys business

Right now I've got some 243s sitting in my closet that will be sent off to TEA for a CNC and new valves etc. Hopefully with the addition of those I will be raping cars around here and get some low end power back.

After my deployment there will be a roots style blower going on as well =) The new system from LMSpeed.. 600rwhp 9psi with only headers/catback. Pretty impressive I'd say. I am thinking either an iron 370 or alum 383 both with forged internals. Haven't decided yet, and really haven't done much research so far.

That's pretty good when it takes a Viper to get beat.
