Default New TC tried me tonight...

So on my way home from work a few minutes ago, I'm driving down the highway at 3am, only one car ahead that I can see. I'm just cruising at 70 minding my own business when I see a set of bright headlights coming up quick. I wait, and eventually a new scion TC with dealer tags rolls up on my right.

The guy looked for a second then drove slowly away, so I thought to myself "this guy wants some... ok then". I came back up to him pretty slowly and as I start to pass him he downshifts and goes to take off. Not so fast buddy. I grab 3rd real quick, winding out to 5k at 70 and let her eat. Turbo spools quick and by the time I hit 110 in 4th I have about 3 greyhounds on this guy.

Well, he was mad I guess, so he came back for his ricer flyby. I waited until he was about 2 cars behind me and just pinned it in 5th, even way out of my power band he couldn't close the 2 car gap and by 90 I was pulling away again. Right after that I had to get over to get off my exit, and he sped off.

So yeah, I killed a brand new scion TC in a bone stock 1991 toyota MR2, only mod is an MBC, have it running 14lbs on the stock turbo. I know its a lame story but I never get any action, and my car is laid up in the garage on jackstands. I just wonder if I was in my car how bad it would have been. Then again I doubt he would have looked at me, unless you drive an import nobody wants anything to do with it.

How much power are you making with 14 lbs.? I know the 3SGTE can go 400+ on stock internals.

So you put 3 greyhounds on a 180hp car with just 190rwhp? Maybe 3 greyhound dogs, definitely not the buses. And you definitely didn't hold him off in 5th unless he wasn't trying. I mean you may have what, 50whp on him?

Don't quote me on this, but I'm willing to bet a 1991 2 seater weighs a little bit less than a 2011 2+2.

50hp, a couple hundred lbs, and maybe a salesmen that can't drive a car he's taking home for the night might be enough to account for the outcome.

Give me a few minutes and I'll look up weights, right after I correct all this damn ignorance about LS1's & functional ram air hoods.

The car has been weighed at 2680 with a half tank recently at a truck scale. I'm estimating power since I don't know anything about 3SGTE's really. Its just a go cart DD. I looked up pictures of TC's and it matches the look of a 2005-2010 model, I don't know how much power those make.

The first time the guy dropped back really fast. The second time, when I was in 5th still, he couldn't gain on me at all and I started to creep away. The car is very high geared so 5th hits full boost at around 65mph ~3500 rpm and I was going about 70-75. I can easily beat a stock 99-04 mustang GT (from a roll) which I'm sure would kill the TC pretty bad as well.

EDIT: from what I can find people running 14-15psi on the stock CT26 make about 200rwhp.

Nice job and kill!! I have an 88 MR2 SC with NST pulley,Na cams, gutted cat, ported throttle body and intake and ran 14.1 before ported intake pieces. I love smaking Scions up.
Good luck with yours. MR2s are fun reliable go carts. 3sgte's are very stout too.

I meant busses. Maybe he was in the wrong gear, maybe he was an auto, maybe this that and the other. Maybe he let off when he realized he wasn't going to pull on me, I don't know. Thats how far back he was when I let off and looked.

you wouldnt put 3 grey hounds on a poorly driven TC from a dig till 110 mph. let alone from a roll. i doubt he was racing.

the mr2 makes 40 more hp on stock boost, the OP is running higher boost, and you still dont think he would pull a couple buses even from a dig? i disagree.
also, the guy in the scion could be like people over here, just drive fast and like jackasses but dont really want to race, and give you the finger if you do try to get a race.

From what I can find the TC has 160hp. I've got him by probably 80hp and have almost 300lb weight advantage.

You guys are seriously going to nitpick this **** into oblivion aren't you? I thought it was a funny story, since I never get to share any kills. What happened, happened. If you have a scion TC and feel personally offended by my kill story, go buy some of those nice TRD mufflers, I'm sure you'll pick up enough power to spank anything on the road.

Ok, now that makes it a lot more believable. I thought the TC would be ever so slightly lighter, and I guess I got the wrong power numbers. It's all good.
