Couldn't hang n my SS so... Well I was cruising around town Friday night in my camaro and pulled up next to a zr1 vette at a stoplight. The guy driving was young so I'm assuming it was daddy's car. Of course we both smashed it when it turned green but, unfortunately, my camaro didn't stand a chance. I went home and told my roommate wat happened and he replies "**** it let's get the blue truck out!" He has a 85' swb chevy pickup with an iron headed all roller 383 sbc on methanol th350 tranny and 3.73 gears. We went back into town and luckily caught him at a stoplight headed out of town. We pulled the vette hard out of the hole all the way thru 3rd gear we hit 6500 rpm before the vette passed us.
We both stopped at a gas station and talked. Come to find out the car isn't daddy's car it actually belongs to the kid and he asked my roommate how much he wanted for his truck he said "You name a price and I'll write the check because this truck is badass it just pulled my $130,000 car!"
My roommate simply replied " I've had this truck since I was 15 and it's not for sale."
We've never seen the guy since.

After reading the story again, it sounds kind of like 
to me too. What year ZR1 was it, a 96? Sounds awefully convienient that you guys found a ZR1 again at the last light leaving town just in time to smoke him in an 85 truck. Stranger things have happened I guess but not sure about this one.

This is wat happened take it or leave it. Just bc it's an 85 chevy truck don't mean it don't haul ***. Ya I agree he shoulda named a price tho I even told him he shoulda just said $30k that would b worth it. But sometimes when u spend ur whole youth workn on the nicest thing u have it ain't easy to let go of. This truck is as clean on bottom as it is on top and it hauls *** too.

This has never happened to you? It has to me....well, not exactly but it was a 16 year old boy in a 2009 lamborghini murcielago that he actually owned. We were both at a redlight. I was in my Mustang. Well we both smashed the throttle. I keep a brick in my car at all times for this situation to present itself, so I literally smashed the throttle with the brick. Anyways I beat him pretty bad up to 7,600rpms. We pulled over and he offered me $68,000 for the Stang and I laughed at him and said "Do you know how much I pull in this car?" And assured him I wouldn't sell it for any price!

I only said $40k because if this actually happened and the guy was stupid enough to lose to an 85 chevy truck in a zr1 then hed be stupid enough to pay $40k for it.

In my personal opinion zr1 vettes are overrated ya they're cool and all but my belief is it's for the rich boys that wanna buy somethin and go stomp ppls *** cuz they don't have the ability or are to lazy to build their own ****.
