Default z28 vs 5.0 slow

just thought i share with yo guys. so i picked up my little brother in hollister ca, and on hwy 25 in hollister its two lanes and i saw a mustang ahead so i sped up a bit to get next to him and we hit a red light. so as the side lights turned yellow and ours turned green i eased the clutch out since i recvently installed a set of 456 gears(which i love btw) and by the time i cleared the intersection he was barely passing the middle of the intersection!!! he followed me to hwy 101 and from there we got next to each other at arond 55 mph then punched it. by the time i hit 135 which was very short he was way behind me. he knew he was slower than me so he got up next to me and we just messed around but it was a fun night.

and btw it was late at night and no traffic so we werent endangering any bystanders!!

Are you talking about the new 5.0s or the old ones? The new ones are putting down almost 400rwhp and are turning into beasts with just a tune.

Did you mean 5.slow, not 5.0 slow? Sounds strange the 2nd way.

New 5oh or old? Details would be helpful.

Good kill on whatever is it was.

Nice kill! I take it by 5.slow you mean the old ones.

What kind of mpg are you seeing with the 4.56's?

oh and 6th gear max's out at 158 now haha i use to shift to 6th at that speed on a nice stretch of road. ill i know is that the iphone has an app for acceleration something like that and when i get a good launch on the street it said and im not lying either. 3.8sec 0-60 and 9.2sec 0-100mph. and i can only imagine being alil quick on 28" drag tires on a 5500 launch at the track

if i was running a pushrod 5.0 theres no way id run anything besides nascar heads and boltons. nothing else can hang. twisted wedge this and track heat that just dont cut it.

and it has to include an aftermarket block, cuz stock will split.

???
My 5.0 used to smack up LS1.com/camaroZ28.com guys back in 97-02 with GT40 heads and a hone Cobra intake and typical supporting mods full weight. On DRs. Do your homework and they can run.

Good kill!

4.56 gears with nitrous on the way, yikes! Where does 4th gear end with a set of 28" tires and those gears?

And then you woke up! What kind of power were you making with that car? Probably not much with GT-40s and Cobra intake. What were you running like 13's with that? Hardly enuff to "smack up" even a well driven stock ls1.

Full bolt-on '99-04 GTs get walked by mostly stock/lightly modded LS1s. And a full bolt-on New Edge is worth like 270-290RWHP and weighs 3,500-3,700LBS.

With that combo your 5.0 is probably making close to 250RWHP and weighs like what, 3,300LBS? I don't think that's near enough to run with a stock LS1, much less one with bolt-ons. I won't say you didn't do what you're claiming, but I think it's highly unlikely.

So he gives you his full mod list, and you tell him you only have exhaust?

You guys crack me up. Search my name on CamaroZ28.com and Ls1.com back in 98-99s. 13s???? LMOA!!!! I went 13.8 at 99MPH just with exhaust, pulleys, free mods and some other little crap on street radials with a 1.98 sixty back in 1993. With cast iron ported GT40 heads I went 12s on street radials all the time in 94.

I went 12.3 at 111MPH on DRs n/a full weight which was no big deal. GT40X heads ported and milled,Extrude honed Cobra intake,65MM tb,full length headers x pipe,E cam with 1.7 rockers,410s with built rear,T5 Z,aluminum ds,18 degrees timing,MSD,race pulleys blah blah. With better intake and cam easy 11 second car. When LS1s got really fast 02(ie cam heads) I put a blower on it. Full interior, stock hood, stock wheels. They never saw the *** kicking coming

Please. Just because your stang was slow as **** doesn't mean mine was. Lets not mention what that car would do to your slow vette right now.

Raced plenty of them. New edge has nothing to do with my car in any kind of comparison. 250 at the wheels. RIIIIIGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHTTT!!!
