Then again another friend purchased a shops track/show car and was running arounf with a 550-600whp pump striped down racer. His car was SICK before he blew it up and had some shop do shady work on it.
I watched him(in mexico) run a porsche turbo(modded I think) and beat it on a highway run. I was flabergasted. And his was well modded but wasnt all that over done. Stroker 2.3 and a GT30 or 35 R.

If your spinning at 60 in fwd thats not that light with his power, you need suspension and tires. My car at 430whp will hook most of the time on all season General exclaims when the rear shocks are set to stiff. If they are not set stiff, it will spin. It spins fairly well at 500whp but I think with some sort of aggressive summer tire like a dunlap star spec or ventus RS3 will do it. Im just going to jump into Toyo R888 for the summer as the car isnt daily driven.

Honda is actually in many ways one of the FEW exceptions to this rule. Somwhere between lag and a MUCH better suspension geometry they have much better traction. This has been a long standing truth. I knew guy with a 400-500hp D series civic. Was amazing how well it hooked on the street with normal tires. And believ eyou me that was not a driver mod cause he wasnt the best by any means. Just better geometry and in most high HP turbo hondas... a slow build of boost that AIDs traction.
Makes me wish i bought back my 05 hatch and just fixed the front end and continued the LS turbo build I was working on 8 years ago. by now it would be a Serious car.

All I can say is ride in a evo 8 with decent mods(stock block and evo 9 turbo in my case) and have him launch from a roll with brake boost. And you just do not expect it to do what it does. Like no muscle car ive seen it just goes like a rocket from the drop.
Do NOT do such thing in any subaru unless you like replacing parts

STi's are a different breed of a Subaru. Beefed up drivetrain, hylical (sp?) 6 speed transmission, etc. Mine didn't break at 400whp either, but if u try that on any other subaru IE a WRX or LGT - ur F'ed. So both statements are true.

The problem lies in how much it takes to make a subaru as fast as a Evo. Evo with intake/turbo back/cam/IC piping and tune is 350+hp EASY! A subaru with same is maybe 300whp-320 max. And then just based on stock turbo size, a STi will never make the top end power of a evo. So for the subaru to keep up wth a semi well built evo its a built motor/huge turbo and meth? I mean I dont mind subarus obviously, but the EVO is a faster car.

I think subaru owners for the most part should embrace what the cars are. GREAT FUn stock and near stock. And money pits beyond that.
I mean my LGT is tastefully modded, all around. But its stock turbo and just bolted and tuned. ANd i KNOW its not the fastest thing out there and I dont care. Its fun to drive and I actually like the small turbo because i get almost NO lag and have so much torque in the 2,500-4,000rpm range I am actually worried the CTS-V might feel slower in some cases.

I dont know. cause I am offtopic in how my brain works, therefore my typing would also be off topic pretty often. The ADD doesnt help either!
And we all know that SRT4s are FASTAR!

Staging Lane
Brake boosting isnt the be-all end-all to AWD cars. Hell, I had a built Sti spinning all 4 tires into my lane from a 40mph brake boost assisted start to our roll race. And my stalled head/cam LS2 walked him from every launch. Same for the 400whp Evo that could only take me on the top end: even giving him the hit when his boost was ready I still always pulled a car or so on him until he hit full boost. A properly built and driven high hp RWD car will match or beat a properly built AWD car on the street - and destroy them on the track.
How many Evo's are hitting 1.4's at the drag strip without being a tuners special built track weapon? Every track in the US has fast, streetable Fbodies and Vettes pulling those numbers off all day long that were built by average joes out to go fast. And an ever increasing amount of GTO's, too.
