Default 98 H/C/ nitrous Z28 vs 92-95 Turbo Civic coupe**VIDEOS**

Let me start by saying the video quality is the poorest Ive ever seen..thnx to my passenger, so I'll have to transcribe what was seen and what he missed. Luckily, the driver of the civic is supposed to chime in and help me straighten the story.

The Cars:
98 H/C/nitrous(.8 delay and 920 psi) z28 6spd put down 417/396 on motor, 530 hp on spray weighing approx. 3850 w passenger 4.10 gear

92-95 Civic Coupe LS/Vtec w gt35r turbo on 9 psi 5spd put down 350/240 weighing approx. 2550 w passenger

both on street tires

First Run-Me on motor vs him brake boosting from a 40 roll to about 120

He couldnt hear the honks b/c my car is so loud, so he just went and I hit as soon as he took off..unfortunately his car(although spinning) took off while my car(spinning) didnt gain ground till 4th gear..as soon as I started gaining the race was over advantage civic by lets say 4 cars

Second Run-Me on nitrous vs him brake boosting from a 60 roll to about 130

Again my little horn was useless, but he waited for my hit, so I got the jump. As soon as I hit it in 3rd, it started spinning and tried to shoot sideways, so I had to let out, get back in it, hit 4th and run it out. You cant see much from the sh*tty video, but it looks like about 4 cars this time in my favor

So no real clean runs, but I gathered that we were pretty close on motor and I started pulling decently on nitrous. Ill wait for him to chime in but thats how I saw it. His car is not rice. Its a clean well built civic that runs really good for what it is. We'd like to get a rematch with both of us on drag radials.

Pretty much like he said, no clean runs. I wasn't in boost when the second race started but i'd still say he beat me hands down the second race, If not by more than 4 cars. I had to start in 3rd gear because the car just spins thru first and second. All in all though I had fun and thats all that matters. Now we just spend more money and bump them off again.

P.S.
it's a 2000 Civic Si

Up the boost. No point in having a 650whp turbo if you're not going to use it.

if he ups the boost he will have more traction problems, i'd say. like was said by the op i'd invest in some DR's.

In fairness he just bought it 3 weeks ago and plans to upgrade..drag radials would have made for clean races but I don't think either of us was counting on finding a race as cold as it was

I hope he ups the boost and gets some drag radials..then Ill have to run spray at full power and a good 3rd gear roll considering his weight

after looking at the videos again..I have a little more insight as to how it went down

on the motor video..if you'll listen and watch..you can hear when I hit it in 2nd and he's already got a few cars..as someone else mentioned..we needed airhorns

in the nitrous video...the beginning is where I spun going from 3rd to 4th and had to get out of it and back in it..I went to 5th so I was prolly doing over 130

Looks like you had fun!

Tires should be everyone's first mod. It should be mandatory before anyone will sell someone a horsepower adding mod

My Z28 hasn't seen a tire that wasn't a drag radial in about 5 years. I can see not running a slick on the street, but the whole point of drag radials is to be able to drive them on the street. I always me laugh when I see someone swapping on their "track only" Nittos

I live on a dirt road..so that pretty much explains it all..if I lived just off a main road w a paved drive, I'd keep them on for sure..but yea if someone didnt live on a dirt road and had to change them out..that would be odd
