Default 2010 Camaro SS vs. 1995 Mustang 5.SLOW

On my way back from seeing Due Date, I got in the interstate excited to see a black SS in front of me (knew it was SS by badge on the rear and dual tailpipes, and obviously the sound) it sounded pretty good, maybe he had different mufflers on it. Anyway, I eagerly pull up next to him and give a small rev to about 3500, he takes the bait and nails it immediately after I rev, well I am still in 5th gear so I quickly downshift to 3rd (we are at about 65) and stop his pull, put it in 4th and pull about a half a car on him to 110 (traffic stopped us).

We then slow down to about 60 (I wanted slower but he didn't) again and I am in 3rd gear this time, I attempt to honk it off but as soon as I get next to him he hits it. Expecting this (because I didn't know if he knew the 3 honk drill) I hit it a split second after he does. End of 3rd about 1/2 car on him, end of 4th another full car, so I end up about 1.5 full cars ahead to about 115 (traffic again). I couldn't hear if it was a 6spd or auto by the shifts because my exhaust was all I could hear (O/R X into Dynomax Ultraflows), but he seemed pretty damn eager to go from 60 roll as I tried to slow down to about a 35 and he refused to slow down at ALL, there was absoltely no traffic behind us either so it wasn't like we would have held up traffic.

My car doesn't necessarily run that well for what it has (300rwhp), intake and cam are holding it back and it only trapped 105.7 in the 1/4. I was expecting this new Camaro to walk away from me on the top end, but it didn't. I expected to stay with it around 60-80 but then expected it to wave bye-bye to my slow 13.18 car and was very surprised by the outcome.

My mods: 1995 Mustang 5.0, H/baby C/ported stock Intake, 3.73s, exhaust, 5spd.

His: 2010 or '11 Camaro, some form of exhaust (maybe mufflers/midpipe?) unknown whether auto or 6spd.

***Cliffs*** 95 Mustang puts 1.5 cars on 2010/11 Camaro SS.

wow. thats sumthin else. 300whp with your mods sounds bout right. if it was auto, it would have slightly less power than 6 speed but still bout 50hp more at the wheels than yours. take the mass of the beast and that out come sounds bout right. judging by his lack of 3 honk knowledge and speedy cruise mode, he was proly a rookie who was so excited that he felt all races should start at 100 and go to 200 like in the movies i think it would have been different from a lower speed or a foot brake dig (again this is assuming he was an auto) might want to run a few of those new ss's with good drivers in em' before adding your sig extension. not hating but what does you gut tell you about lq9s or ls3's vs you? just keeping perspective....nice race btw

Those things are so heavy. 3 months ago I watched an auto ss run consistent 13.7 but it was awfully hot out. Good kill man.

Good kill.

Like I said in the text, those autos are putting down numbers at the wheels not too far off from what you put down, on the stock tune that is. That would make this VERY believable for any doubters that follow. The weight & gears also help too obviously.

LOL @ the sig comment, I have had this sig for a long time. I know my car is slow, this Camaro was just slower. Thanks for the nice words.

Good kill and Im not surprised. With the aerodynamics of a brick and the weight of a pig I guess thats what you get.

Hmm...I'm suprised your car would pull on even an auto SS with him getting the hit both times. Guy must have one of those lemon L99's that somehow escaped the GM plant.

While I wouldn't call them "lemons" (I know you aren't being serious), they are dogs on the stock tune. Torque management and the like kill those cars. Just looking at Camaro5's "FASTEST" list (stock), most L99's are trapping 106/107, which means it is a pretty close race for snake.

I mean the L99 not lq9. oops. but yeah, the weight is a factor (3280 vs 3860) and driver error. the weight is there but the driver can be switched....

you make me feel bad snake, a win is a win and you did get it....

Any particular reason, or just because it's a Mustang? It's not a 3V GT, so what are you doing here?

Because that SS should trap 4-5 mph higher than his mustang. Maybe it just needed a better driver. The number of valves per cylinder has zero to do with it.

@ the BS flags. It coulda been a 6 spd and the driver could have been garbage, I don't know, all I know is that I beat him.

False. Most L99 Camaros aren't nearly as fast as their LS3 counterparts with the stock tune. See below...

And it begins...
So most L99 Camaros are trapping 106-107mph, and also running low 13s (just like the OP), AND the OP ran a 13.2 @ 106mph... but the Camaro should have trapped 4-5mph faster? Think about that for a second.

Either an L99 or LS3...unless there is another SS engine I don't know about.

Well it's obviously (by the OP's admission) either an L99 or an LS3 with an average driver. So there is no reason to call "" because the OP, and everybody else with a brain, knows that it could/should have happened different.

Even if it was an L99, the camaro still should have won.
