Default Ran up against another '11 5.0

I'm out car shopping for an SS for my GF and we bumped into this older gentleman with a new 5.0 and he had his daughter with him. I asked if he got the track pack. he said yes he did and all the works. I told him I want to see what it can do and he said he would run me. I told him to follow me and we went to this street in Mexico.

First run: 20 roll.. He got the jump and I slowly creeped up and by the end of the run I was neck and neck with him.

Second run: dig... He got the jump on me about half car, we ended up with me on his fender.

Last run: dig... I ended up around half car ahead of him at the top of third and we shut it off..... DAMN THESE SMALL MEXICAN STREETS.

We also got other misc. Runs but cars were in the way and either him or me had to shut down.

This one was one of them. Sorry for the camera girl!

This was the first run. He shut down because some car was about to cross his path.

Nice results! Kinda surprised that a track pack lost to you, but based on the runs I've witnessed it sounds legit. How was the guys shifting?

BTW: did you ever get a chance to run Nightmare with his WS6 before he traded it on a SRT8? Thought you guys did but dont remember the outcome. ?

He was shifting decent. And I asked if he had trac. Control on and he said no. And I know he didn't since he spun out on one of the runs.

No never ran him with the WS6, I wish I could of cause it would of been a good run.

The technological advancements might keep rolling on, but some platforms with mild mods (LS1 Fbody, C5 Z06, 2nd and 3rd gen vipers, Supra's) seem to defy that trend longer than most other "sport/muscle cars". Just goes to show how much effort went into the 'overkill' midset of the engineers when they made them.

We would have been a great race, the first time I ever took it to the track I ran a 14.0 missing a gear it was my first time ever owning a 6-Speed car and I broke the 10 bolt the next run. Took it back a month later with another 10 bolt and ran a best of 12.76@110.3 on 19'' wheels and low profile tires only mods were SLP lid, 3" Cutout and Magna flow Catback. I think your car would run about the same. We need to hit Irwindale's 1/8th or Fontana's 1/4th somtime bro

You shitting me?!?! Thought they were supposed to be in the 3550lb range?! So they are the exact same weight as a GTO huh? Figures... everything is getting heavier because of the damned crash standards. Leaves little hope that GM will somehow slim the new Camaro down a few hundred pounds.

What are you guys referring to as a track pack? I thought that ended in the 2010 models?

Are you referring to the brembo upgrade package with 19" rims?

No CAI just gear option(which was 3.55s or 3.73s) and brembos. A stripped 2011 will weigh around 3550 but add 19" wheels, brembos with 14" rotors, navigation, back up camera etc and it adds up quick. Those damn cars shouldnt come with a back seat cause you couldnt fit a midgett with no legs back there.
