LS2 GTO vs 2011 5.0

From a 50-120 roll you could expect the stang to have 2 cars IF, and I mean IF the 5.0 guy was already in gear and not waiting for the slow torque management impaired downshifting.
The Coyote 5.0 engine puts at least 20rwhp more to the tires, weighs 200lbs less, and has a trans that gets it to the sweetspot of power (over 4300rpms) quickly from any roll speed. That being said, the LS2 has the equivelant of big block torque compared to the high revving 'smallblock' 5.0 Coyote engine. It's just that the damned 6spd auto trans of the 5.0 works so damned well at hiding that weakness- and it also has a OEM stock 2400-2600 stall converter to help at the launch. (I've brake-stalled 2 different 5.0 auto 'stangs to 2200-2300rpms. Compared to most 'normal' stock converters like in my GTO that stall to around 1700-1800rpms stock.)

Mines an auto they all come with 3.15's no option for different gears from the factory. It ran 12.90 @ 111 stock with 300 miles in 800' da a few weeks ago. I've since added a tune. He definately wasnt the best driver or it was an auto. No chirps or hard shifts from the GTO.
Every track is different and I dont know what track those stock numbers came from, but they are impressive! If you can hook with your tune now you should be able to drop down into the 12.4 @ 113mph range I bet. Knock a couple tenths off if you have more than just a tune.

just jking, he has a good running C5Z

btw I ran a best of 11.96 at 117mph with a vararam and m/t et streets with a 1.79 60', spinning just a bit. Car ran consistent 116-117mph traps that day. I think for a 5.0 to run with a C5Z it will need full exhaust, CAI and a tune.

Yeah it just had 2 simple bolt ons. His car ran very well, I guess you could say "factory freak" but he pulled my 03 Z06 by 2 cars stock for stock, his **** just runs very well. But right now he has the highest Cam only Z06 in DFW that I know of. But he got banned on here b/c one of his roomates trolled on his account while he was on vacation for a week.

Stock for stock automatics in the 1/4 mile? (GTO's all have 3.45 gears btw) I would say the 5.0 would be ahead by .2 sec and 2mph.

I really like the new 5.0 and I think it will take off with after-market mods just like the LS1 did. But to think a stock C5 Z06 and Stock 5.0 Mustang are gonna be neck and neck is just retarded.

True, but who really has 4 people ever in the Trans Am or Camaro when there racing? I never do when I am out at the races but there are those select times when I have all 4 seats full but thats just usually b/c my girl and some of her friends wanna ride in a fast car to the movies and back. But as for me and I know of many other friends with F-Body's who hardly ever use there back seat for more than just some more room for beer.
