I see like five 5.0's a day. Mostly owned by older gentlemen not looking to race.

Good death OP. But honestly, who runs 6psi thru a maggie? That's like having the biggest $6,000 paper weight. I know there's heatsoak issues, but come on...let it eat Mr. GTO owner. At least 10 or 12 psi.

Good runs, hell it's nice knowing that some bolt on 5.0's are going to give me a run for the money.

The only thing it would eat would be the stock 10.9:1 non-forged pistons. Maggies on stock/header LS2 GTOs usually keep a ceiling of 5-6psi. The ones that dont mysteriously have iron blocks in their sigs a few months later.

OP good run, nice kill.

New tech? This **** in the 'new' 5.0 has been around for 20+ years... The only reason a "tune" gains power on a Cobalt is because you can turn the boost up with the tune.

Back in the day we'd throw an exhaust on a turbo car and turn the boost up with a 3 dollar valve from hope depot and gain way more than 3mph lol

I find it hard to believe those new 5.0's run that good! A guy at work has a friend that just bought one, said they're about 420 to crank. Thats roughly 360 to the wheels. I have seen a Road and track test of a bone stock one, with Dr's running a 12.40 or some ****. Highly doubtfull!

"Highly doubtful?" Are you just surprised, or do you actually not believe it?

Aren't the new 5.0's rated at 420hp to the crank? That roughly translates to 360rwhp. I have heard of a Road and track test of a bone stock 2011 5.0 running a 12.40 with onlt DR's. I call BS on that! 360 rwhp car running that time with only Dr's? Come on! I HIGHLY doubt they are that fast.

Nice double post . And actually, the record as it stands right now is 12.3 or 12.4 for a BONE STOCK car. Believe it or not
