Default Bolt on BMW 335i vs a LS3 Camaro

So It's 5AM about a week ago and I'm on my way to work (sorta). I'm cruising about 70 MPH and a Orange LS3 Camaro flies by me but immediately slows down after he passes me. I think to myself oh heck yes, this is going to happen and it's going to be done right. I catch up to him but when I do he floors it again for about 5 seconds. I don't really chase him down as my intention is to do this race right and get by his side for a long period of time until he gets the hint. We're finally both cruising at about 60 MPH side by side and I start slowing down, he does the same and we both are going about 40 MPH.

I look over to him but I can't really see him since his windows are so dark, my front windows are tint free, seeing as how I just got the tint off to get a fix it ticket taken care of. I hold up 3 fingers for him, and put the car in 2nd gear which puts me right in my cars sweet spot (about 4500RPM @ 40 MPH). I honk once, twice, and 3 times, and let her rip, to my surprise he knew exactly what to do and also went on three. This was like a dream come true "street race" lol, everything just fell into place and went right.

Unfortunatly the race and outcome was not quiet what I expected. At about 120 MPH I look into my rear view mirror and the Camaro is at least 10 car lengths behind (objects in mirror are closer than they appear so maybe 8 car lenghts lol). Of course At this point I let off the throttle and let him catch up, he rolls his windows down and gives me a “wow” with his mouth, and a thumbs up, I return the gesture and kinda laugh/smile and we both continue on our way. Anyway are you on here? This was on the 60 freeway heading east between the 57 and the 15. To be fair it was nice and cold, and I was running a 94 octane blend

Good kill, sounds like it might have been an auto since it was insta-buses.

Even though I know what you have, you should avoid the n00bish mistake of assuming everyone knows your car. Put it in the post or add a sig. In the meantime, it's a 335i, bolt-ons & tuned...he can give details.

At first i was like...wow 94 octane...who cares.

But then i realized you're in so cal, where 91 octane is the best you can get at the pump.

Do you mix race gas for your DD tune? That's gotta be a PITA.

Nice kill, but 8 cars seems kinda alot to me. I wouldn't doubt you could best a ls3 camaro given your mods, but that is a slaughter.

I have a 91 octane map (14.5 psi)and a 94 octane map (16 psi). I fill up with 94 about once every 3 times

It was a slaughter tho. And 40-120 mph a 335i really shines with it's gearing.

40 mph = 4500 RPM in 2nd gear
120 mph = 6500RPM in 4th gear.

At WOT you are pretty much between 5000RPM-6500RPM the whole time from 40-120 MPH.

Below is not my car, but gives you an idea of the power band of a car with my mods (the red line), but with .5 psi less (16 psi for me vs 15.5 psi for him) and 2 less octane points (92 octane for him, 94 octane for me)

Custom Tuning is possible but not the norm yet, meth is widely used in the community, the dyno I posted above has a dyno graph with meth being used.

I dunno if I want to go that route tho, I don't know enough about meth, and I often have two kids (2 year old and 1 year old) in the back seats

Curb Weight is 3580, my wheel and tire combination however saved me around 70 lbs, maybe another 30 lbs from the downpipes and exhaust. I'd say 3500lbs at most with half a tank and without a driver.

And if we planned a race I'd run 100 octane and 18 PSI LOL (yes got a map for that too)

Nice kill.Sound's like a slaughter for sure.I watched a new 335i tt run consistent 11 second quarter miles with just a hand held tuner and removal of back seats at sac raceway so I believe it,those car's are beast's with minimal mod's.
