Default what started my addiction

it was 1999 mid summer i had spent the last month straight with my best friends building are first engine a 383 to go in a 1992 iroc we finally got it don and went out to see what it had after a while we decided to sit on a side road and wait to see what came buy after not to long a orange 1999 ss came buy i couldn't say if anything was done to it but we took off after it at

what ensued next changed the course of history and my financial way of life for the next 8 years

we tried to race him but he didn't want anything to do with a rusty 92 305 turd (ha) but after some persistence it was on what in sued was 3 miles of 120 plus speeds on a 2 lane Windy road he was shocked to see we were not only getting are doors blown of but winning slightly i remember the cars coming up like they were standing still even tho they were going 50 or so the race finally ended when a car in front of us couldn't decide how to get out of are way (***** panicked and kept changing lanes in front of us) we slammed on are brakes as hard as we could tires squealing and all just barely managed to stop the car died it was carbureted and lost fuel cos of the fast stop we started it and puled into a parking lot the hole under side of the car was glowing from the exhaust and we were in a state of euphoria

my great racing memory

lets hear yours

wow apparently that stop affected your brain

My father has been a auto tech since before my birth, so I grew up around hot-rods. My first memory of a street race was at the age of 8. Out in the desert, where my grandparents lived at the time, the hot spot for car shows/before race meets was a local drive-in. They used to gather every 3rd Thursday of the month, we attended, then followed them to "The Spot".
I still remember the sight of those hot rods in total darkness lined up down the sides of a desolate road. Then the two runners would line up, do their burnout and stage. It was old school in it's simplicity and I'm sure none of them ran faster than 11's but, it is still one of the best experiences of my life.

that is a cool memory and i it sounds like they were all old hot rods

Really? Ya think so? I think it's more on the weaker side of things to be honest. Well, especially when you got stock 346's making more than that.

When I was 5 years old I used to put my big wheel up on boxes and lay under and pretend to work on it. You might say I have been a car guy from birth.
