I was waiting for the "so I was street racing with my little girl in the car and flipped over twice and killed her." Glad I walked into a much happier thread.

Sounds like a fun kill! Any mods on the G8? Any pictures of the LS1 swapped 81 TA?

What are you trying to say about Mini Coopers

no mods on the G8 yet. saving my dough. I just bought a front drive kit (19155067) for the T/A, and that is on back order from GM. he T/A is a work in progress and has some pics available. It's being set up for me to learn road racing. Teaser pic is below.

Very cool, man! Any plans for the G8? I want to start modding mine this year, but I'm not sure what route I want to take yet.

I just checked her out - you'd better get a very big stick (or a gun to clean) when the boys start comming over! I do not envy your situation; I only have boys.

great421, how do you like that STS kit on your car? You don't see too many on LT1's.

I'll probably start light on the mods for the G8, as anything I get for it will compete for funds that would otherwise be dedicated to completing the T/A. However, I'd love to put a blower and more open exhaust on the G8.

If it were my g8 I'd get LTH, catback, intake, tune and a nice converter. That would liven it up quite a bit

A set of axlebacks is definitely high on the list since I want it to sound better in the worst way. I'm thinking a little 75-100 shot might follow shortly after along with a tune.

Don't go too loud or you might hate DD'ing it...I wouldn't though.

A guy around here had LTs, X and a stock axleback I think it was pretty quite under normal driving and was pretty loud at WOT. I'd say intake, axleback, tune and call it quits. You'll only want to keep going further, so start off slow.

I was thinking that the stock axlebacks would sound good with headers and a mid-pipe, but I'm not sure what my long term plans are, so I'm going to keep the stock manifolds for now. I like nitrous, because it will give me a nice, noticeable gain for a reasonable cost, and it's easily removable if I decide to change power adders.

I'll probably stick with cold air intake, LTH, cat-back, and tune. The true crazy speed will come from the T/A, which weighs nearly half a ton less.

Wait, so you're changing the T/A to FWD?

Certain details were left out in order to keep the initial blurb short (wide & well known stretch of road, dry conditions, no intersections or cars between the start point and end, and so on). Essentially, there's only so high one can accelerate in order to safely make a turn within 400 yards. I got it up to 60, I believe. This should, I hope, illustrate how big a POS the ricemobile was. It was truly all show and no go. But, I agree with the essence of your message. A total *****-out race with kids in the car is beyond stupid.

Nope, 19155067 is the GM part number for a kit that includes all the doodads involved in the belt drive on the front of the engine. In this case, it is a Corvette-based accessory drive, with the alternator high and to the driver-side of the engine, but not high enough interfere with the hood.

Sounds NOT like my girlfriend (21). I had an 05 ish mustang with tribal decals all over it pull up next to me at a light while we were coming back from dinner. First chance to race since I got the car and there was NO ONE on the road. Light turns green and I proceed to very carefully...light up the tires through the intersection. . I start pulling on this stang when I start to hear, very faintly over the radio turning up, stop Stop STop STOP STOP! STOP!!!!!! She starts flailing at me and hitting me cause that seemed like the right thing to do at WOT. I had to get out of it around 60 so I was just a little ahead of the stang. She yelled at me some more all while I stopped at two more lights IN A ROW lined up with this guy and didn't try again. I was fuming
