Bolt-on 97 TA WS6 vs. 2010 BMW 750i
So its 65 degrees out right now in the Des Moines, Iowa, area. Naturally, I decide to take my Trans Am to work.
It just so happens my old friend from high school (my dad and his dad work together) wanted to meet up and grab lunch. He started bragging how he was driving his dad's 2010 BMW 750i around all day so I told him to bring it with to Tsing Tsao (my favorite Chinese restaurant here) and we'd run the cars afterwards.
So as we are eating, he says we should do a rolling start (10mph) onto the interstate (2 lane ramp getting on the interstate - pretty much a straight shot) and he starts saying how his dad's car is going to absolutely murder mine because it is SO FAST. I did my bench racing beforehand and noticed that Edmunds ran a 13.5@103.7 with a stock 2010 BMW 750i, so I figured with my old bolt-on drag strip run this past summer, it'd be a good race.
He wanted the 10mph rolling start because "it spins too much". I've driven the car before and it doesn't seem to spin at all from a dig really from all the torque management and whatnot on it
The Run
So we turn to go onto the interstate, holding in 1st gear at 10mph and he honks it off and we are off!
I have lots of tire spin through first and throughout almost all of 2nd (Thank God for Nitto DR's coming tomorrow from Discount Tire Direct )
By 80mph I was ahead by a car and when we shut down at 120mph due to traffic, I had a car and a half lengths on him. I quickly booked for my exit back to work and he kept going straight towards his parent's house.
I tried to get a video on my Blackberry Curve, but that was an epic fail and he said he got one on his iPhone but it wasn't too good either. I'm still trying to get him to send it to me
All in all, this tells me I can't wait to throw a shot of nitrous on the current LT1 motor and can't wait to start the build up of the LQ4 motor

For sure! Driving his dad's car and being all cocky about it.. lol he drives an 08 Scion TC....
I hope the LQ4 gets a lot of action. That is why I plan on building it
I'm trying. He is being a douche about giving it to me
Tsing Tsao is also a great restaurant. Speaking of drinking, I can't wait for New Years
Thanks for all the comments, guys!

Good kill! I love racing oddball cars that turn out to be faster than I thought they'd be. I've never seen a 750i before (that I've noticed), but I've gotta say it's a nice looking car.
You should try to find a car that runs almost dead even with you so that you can really get an idea when you put the nitrous on.
Don't try selling us your lies, you backpedaling SOB

You could call me out in my Z28. The rear is out of it, so I'm pretty sure you could run faster than I could push it...

For sure, win or loss - racing other cars makes you want to better yours. That is why I try to minimally go to the drag strip even though I love it
