I found a cell phone video of the race between him and the 440+RWHP cobra. In this video he was on his nitrous. It's a shitty video but good enough to see him hit his brakes at about the 1/8th mile or a little further when the cobra was about to pull by him.

In that race he claimed he was 6-8 cars ahead. Looked somewhere between 0-2 cars to me at most.

I don't know. Really makes me want to get my heads put on, maybe toss on a 75-100 shot and stomp him on nitrous too. But at the same time spinning a rod bearing isn't worth proving a point.

An "average" H/C/I LS1 shouldn't have any problems with a 75 shot, although I agree it's probably not worth it just to prove a point if you're nervous about the motor.

Well I treat her the best I can. The engine had a supposed 50k miles on it when I got it, but PO had flatted 2 cam lobes and lifters. I did the cam/GMPP lifters during the swap. Engine should have about 80k+ miles on it now.

I run good synthetics (usually Pen. Platinum or Castrol Syntec) and change it around 5k-7k miles with good filters. Also regularly use Lucas fuel treatment about once a month.

I set the shifts to 6300rpm and rev limit to 6600rpm. But it does see those very often because I don't see the point of having toys and not playing with them.

I'd rather just be nice and safe while I save for a new shortblock. Thinking of going forged rods/pistons and good rod bolts, re-do the rest close to stock and put the extra money towards awesome heads. Unless my home ported 243 exceed my expectations...in which case I will reuse those and pocket the rest or see about a 383 rotating assembly.

Everyone keeps telling me to send the heads off but I love the satisfaction of doing what I can myself and I do have a professional who wants to guide my work. If I sacrifice 10-15 hp but save myself $900+ for the future build I'd be stoked.

OP, get some kind of traction device on there.. My '67 hooks from a 3500rpm launch on the street on 295 BFG drags.. It leaves a perfect "track" of rubber.. I've got Caltrac style traction bars that I fabbed up..

The problem lies in the suspension. The car is setup to turn and corner flat.

750# rate front springs, Afco stiff circle track shocks, only ~5.75" front end separation. I don't get a ton of weight transfer. The car does have bolt on traction bars to eliminate wheel hop and try to plant the rear (similar geometry as LCA relocation brackets).

I'm trying to be a slave to 2 masters which results in compromise.

I have big brakes and stiff springs, too. Get some caltracs. They're unbelievable and don't hinder your cornering. I had traction issues all day until I put them on, now it plants hard and leaves the line quick. I can still rail corners, too I have them on 5 leaf springs, but for best results, monoleafs are reccomended. They act like a 4 link when you're on the throttle and leave you alone the rest of the time. Slappers arent even close to the same ballpark. They replace you front spring bushing with aluminum, and as soon as you nail the throttle, it is engaged, no hesitation.

Do they make them for coil springs? I always associate caltracs with leaf spring cars.

Would they be the same as "lift bars"?

Word now is he tore the engine down to replace his current heads with AFR205s. I think he already had trick flows...me thinks he is wasting time/money.

He also sent a text to a guy saying he thinks I sprayed.

*sigh*

Wish he would take his *** to the track to see for himself, he's not giving others enough credit and his car isn't as fast as he would like to think it is.

you can still use the stiff springs with loose sway end links and adjustable shocks. id like to see you kill him BAD off the line and then see him hit his brakes from way behind.

ladder bars?

He is supposedly going to run Centerville this weekend (1000ft drag track with awesome track prep)

Curious to see if he does and what he runs. I'm betting mid-high 9s on spray and mid-low 10s if he runs an NA pass.

I like to see muscle cars still running strong. I have a 69 camaro that will get a LS1 transplant, and if my motor messes up that is in my 67 it will probably get a 6.0 swap to go along with the twins it already has. Good Kill

Well I ended up riding down with my buddy in the Cobra to watch. Day got off to a bad start, unloading the car the trailer lifted the back of the truck some and ripped the bumper off the Cobra. He was not pleased.

His clutch was on it's last breath so he was trying to balance a nice burnout and launch but still be able to get the thing in gear. He started the day trapping 112 in the 1000ft. Finally the air got cold so the car could cool down. Ended up running a few 9.7s at around 110 1000ft. He even won the EFI heads up class, beating a procharged SRT8 Charger which was running 10.3s.

The big bad race gas fox ran a couple 9.3s and a couple 9.5s. He claimed "the kit wasn't working" but he somehow managed to go through at 1 1/2 15# bottles anyway. LOL. After a couple runs I asked him how it was doing and he said it was about to be a lot better now that he fixed it...then he promptly ran another 9.3 same as before and a 9.5 when he tried to hot lap.

After that he loaded the car up and told us he "broke a valvespring".
