That sucks about the cobra too...that car is soo damn nice!
The other 3rd gen I was telling you about is a 1991 Z28 with a mild carbed 350 and a 5-speed. It went 12.9 @ 104-106ish I think. He just got it back from paint and it looks great!

Nice run and nice rides!
Thanks, Unit.

Someone mentioned to me that overly large lower pullies on those cars can cause problems. Have you ever heard of thiat?

Definitely, it's on the to-do list. I plan on dropping it about an inch, but there are a few things on the list first.

He was just talking about getting the 3rd gen together this year. Maybe he'll work on that so he has something to cruise in and save the Cobra for a winter project.

Should be a bunch of nice 3rd gens.

Damn nice run! Wasn't what I expected. Your car seems to pull like a totally different car from your older N/A runs.

It does feel strong, but I won't really know until I get it to the track and dyno. What I really need to do is line up with a car that I was really close with before the winter mods.

What exactly were your "winter mods"? Last I was told you weren't modding the Z. Sneaky sneaky..

**** he'd send me a couple pics a week of stuff he's been doing to the Z for the past few months. Someone was keeping you out of the loop on purpose.

What I can remember off hand is the FAST, swapping the spool for a posi, and the gear swap (4.10s to 3.73s)...and taking the kit off.

I probably said I wasn't doing much because I didn't really do anything major. Just what he said v

It should be a minor gain in the grand scheme of things, but the car drives so much better. The work was all necessitated by me blowing my ring and pinion in September.

Next on the list is a tune, line lock, new torque arm, and I'm thinking about converting my nitrous kit to a dry setup (basically just for the price of a nozzle) and just running a 75 shot for now.

The story is that aftermarket lower pulleys can create problems when running one in
combination with a larger blower, such as a 3.4L Whipple. The theory is that the big
blower puts a tremendous amount of stress on the snout of the crank. Since the
aftermarket lower pulley doesn't have a supporting "cage" like the stock crank
pulley, the snout of the crank actually gets sheared completely off. It's happened
numerous times, but there are other possible root causes as well. I've never heard
of this problem with little twin screw blowers or with an Eaton. I've been running
a 4lb lower pulley (aftermarket) for years now with no issue.
