Default Raced my buddy's Ported Cobra today **DAYTIME VID**

PSM, my buddy with the Cobra, and I tried to get a cruise going today, but alot of people were busy and there was alot going on, so we ended up being the only ones out there (early in the year though, plenty of time for more cruises!).

We decided to line up the Z28 and the Cobra.

His car is a 2003 Cobra with bolt-ons (stock manifolds), ported blower, and drag radials. It made 498 rwhp and 480 rwtq in a Mustang Dyno. Absolutely beautiful car.

My Z28 is a 2002, M6, with Trickflow heads, cam, bolt-ons, and a Moser 12-bolt with 3.73's. I just installed a FAST 90/90, but haven't gotten it retuned yet. We knew I was down on power, so I opened my cutout, which was worth 10 rwhp and 14 rwtq last year, but with the new intake I have no idea.

PSM road in the Cobra and I was alone in my car. We both started in 1st gear and ended around 140 mph.

It was a great run and I was suprised by how well I did. My friend said he spun a little on the hit, but that it wasn't that bad. I really don't know what my car is making right now for power, and I've never opened the cutout on the street before. The car did feel great this run.

Keep in mind that the 180 lbs passenger in the Cobra makes for a 360 lbs swing if he had been in my car instead.

We all had a blast despite it being a little chilly out.

**UPDATE**
Sounds like the Cobra has knock in the motor now, probably rod knock. I'm sure that explains the outcome.

Thanks guys!

The heads are Trickflow 215's (CNC'd) and the cam is an old grind: 230/236, .551/.551 112. When the heads went on I went with a set of 1.8 rockers, so the lift is currently around .583/.583.

Sick race... I wonder who's disappointed with the results. With trickflow heads you should be outrunning cruise missiles.

btw- "despite it being a little chilly out"....what was the temp there? I got a freakin' sunburn today.

nice run!!

shouldnt even mention this but curious as to how you are figuring the 360 pound difference . I mean if you both ran with him in different runs and compared the outcomes it would be a 360 pound swing between 2 races(mustang-180 camaro+180 and vice versa) but since he was only in the mustang the mustang simply weighed 180 pounds more then normal... lol sorry im **** tonight.

Sweet Race! Car looks like it's running healthy, even on the old tune. And it sounds so mean. I know that cobra moves out having run him before. Looks like I'll need a little go-go juice to hang with you...

Badass race! Car seems to be running VERY strong. Guess it likes the 3.73's and FAST setup haha. I'm really curious to see what it does on the dyno and re-tuned!

The car sounds ridiculous in real life with the cutout open WOT. The results were definitely reversed from what I imagine we all thought it would be, but with so many unknowns on your car right now regarding the power level and also the extra weight in the Cobra (stock vs stock plus me with my gear), you just never know what's gonna happen. I'm glad to see that my continuous pestering to get rid of the 4.10s and swap the 3.73s back in seems to have had the desired results.
