AMS has gone 9s on pump gas with the GT-R. Also to those hating saying that its more impressive that a Z06 hung with a turbo car, the Z06 has 7.0L of displacement. Also lets not forget that the GT-R is 3900lbs has a lower power to weight ratio and has 4 seats.
Its more impressive that a car that weighs 700lbs more and makes far less hp/lb is hanging a and beating a lighter car with a bigger motor.

disagreed
you are forgetting about the weak transmission in the GTR's. A buddy of mine has a 680 awhp GTR while on pump gas. 750 awhp while on race gas.
My viper was 470 rwhp at the time.
We did some 1/4 mile raceing at the same location with thje same equipment.
Iturned an 11.67 at 124 mph. He turned a 11.68 at 128 mph.
How in the world did I pull out a slight victory
his trannie isnt built up and he didnt want to risk it with agressive launching and left it in the normal launch mode.
I suspect quite a few GTR owners are afraid of breaking that expensive transmission
So wouldnt surprise me if it's closer than we think 1/4 mile wise

I will agree that you put a GTR on a diet and it will get much faster. Strip it down liek some the vettes, and mustangs and so one. BUt most GTR owners will not do that. Its just to nice.
It used to be people compared every car to the vette now they dont. They compare them to the GTR.

What's your point ![Icon Confused](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/icon_confused.gif)
The GTR in that video was making 750+awhp while the stage 1 LPE ZR1 puts down a "measly" 613 at the wheels. And yet was door to door with the Nissan.
The GTR will never be on the same level as the Corvette until it sheds some weight. Period. End of discussion.

it says in video 720 for the ZR1..and 750 for the GTR. Didnt say what whp was just hp. Not big difference for the weight difference .First race GTR had passenger with ZR1 not..Second race the GTR left it with no passenger.
Either way in teh long run shows a ZO6 will take a lot more then simple bolt ons to match up to a GTR once modding begins.

It is much different when the car in question ha launch control to get it off the line in the best (fastest) way possible, AWD to keep the power reigned in by sending it to 4 corners thus maximizing traction, and lastly, having only to tap a paddle at the right time to get the next gear.
Magazine drivers' times are questioned when they dump the clutch off the line in a RWD car and shift slow. HUGE difference. If you don't see that, well then you might just be a bit slow.
No.

The LPE 710/720 kit is rated at the flywheel and puts down roughly 610-620rwhp. So in short the GTR had a ~135whp advantage over the ZR1. Not too impressive if you ask me.

Was the Z06 being run up the revs all the way? Sounded a little short through some of the gears. Even if the shifting was faster and the gears punched out at 7,500 and lets just say the Z06 edges it out under those conditions it would still only be edging it out.
Any STOCK car crawling away from a C6Z at those speeds is

That Nissan is a ******* beast.

Read it carefully. The GTR has a Switzer P800 kit making 750+hp at 19.5#. Normal dyno #'s for this kit is around 710 so I suppose that car was pushing a little more boost over the stock kit or on race gas.

Pains me to say it but respect must be given when earned
We are talking a lot about the weight of the GTR as a handicapp. Sorry guys but we are wrong. The GTR requires a shift to third gear just to hit 60 mph. Vipers and ZR1/Z06's all hit 60 mph in first gear. What Im saying is that these GTR's are geared so agressively that combined with the AWD the weight dosent hinder them.
Case in point. My Viper is 3380 pounds stock weight. I put on a lighter 08 style hood (-15 ) light weight flywheel (-20) light weight crank pulley (-2) deleted my cats and cross pipes and substituted for a titanium exhaust (-75)
So Im in a solid 32xx pound car. The last GTR I raced was the stock 3850 pounds plus had a 150 pound passenger.
Im a 34xx pounds with driver and 500 rwhp standard- few bolt ons/tune/baby cam
The GTR is 4150 pounds with driver/passenger and 500 awhp standard-cobb tuneing/downpipe/exhaust
We raced from 45-135 mph. I spun out first gear a lil and he capitalized and had my font at his rear bumper at shutdown. Maybe if I hadnt spun out first gear It could have been him at my rear bumper. Regardless. It was close. The weight dosent seem to effect them much if any

Even that Z06 in the video with the vader mask is what 3200 pounds and they have about the same rwhp/awhp around 450? Weight isnt a factor

Also the 2012 GT-R transmission is stronger and has launch control always on. Its covered by Nissan. Also the 2012 has more agressive gearing than the previous GT-Rs, weighs less, has a better drag coefficient and better aero.
As far as my theory it only Applies to 2012 GT-Rs, With the new improvements very few have seen lower ET's than 11.3 with a lot of them doing 11.2s and 11.1s

HKS vs Cam Z06
I would be down to run a GTR off the line, :-).
I've taken a GTR motor out and did the Greddy Turbo upgrade, I know a thing or 2 about GTR's.
AND, I always lap them at the track...lol...at the end of the day, it's all about WEIGHT!
I have this OLD vid from the track, I was done and just finished a cool down lap when I saw my buddy chasing down that GTR, so I jumped back on for a sec. As you can see, that viper flys (he has slicks), I'm on NT05's. I will say, the GTR driver sucks but he did hit it on the straight. I was at 480 wheel FYI.

The vette also got raped when the gtr didnt have the passenger or did you miss that...on the second run. so it was close at all second run.
also since every one keeps bringing it up..The GTR weighs what 500lbs at least more. That can play big diff also. So i would say real impressive being that GTR cost 90k to a 100k+ ZR1. Then moding both expensive as hell either way..
