When has any ls1 NEEDED h/c/i to beat a 5.0??? Most h/c/i ls1s are in the 11s trapping 116-120. The new mustang might be the first time ford has ever had a slight advantage over gm(Ls1 & Ls2 only). At the end of the day your still in a mustang that are parked on every city block. They will never be original or rare and better yet you hang out on ls1tech to stir the pot again. Congrats for being quick and very average.

My dad just bought a new 5.0. We'll all be at the track soon enough. Guess we'll see how my cam only car hangs.

Well being 5.0s only need tune and cold air for me to go 11s then h/c/i is not ompressive at all then huh. Oh and bolt ons only 5.0s have hit high 10s and low 11s. Again looking at some GM list every camaro needed least bolt ons and cams to get low 11s and 10s. Specially the new camaros. SO ya i would say it is more then a slight advantage.

And there are just as many camaros out there then mustangs..Matter fact i see more 10-11 camaros then 5.0s..SO guys you GM guys are just as average if not more..

I know its hard for you to give credit that ford is kicking that *** right now..Its ok..Stay a fanboi...Ford has a answer for every camaro will come out with...its just how it is. Chevy isnt where it is right now. It happens. Its what us get great cars. I mean on here new camaros going 11.6 with bolt ons and cams..wow..5.0s going low 11s and high 10s with bolt ons..thats a big advatage.

You should be happy ford came out with the 5.0 maybe GM will make the SS better.

I mean after all look at your sig and you only ran a 12.4...wow sounds like you wasted a lot money to me. Specially after you said ls1/ls2 do need cams to keep up..and then a lot more in your case.

This last statement is invalid. Come on, like in 04 we were thinking about keeping cars stock and waiting for some new motor to blow away the market, instead of "wasting money". And for the SS, that's what the ZL1 will be for, but I can see it now. Ford boys whining "because it has a supercharger"... Well, welcome to GM's point of view in 03/04

Still don't see why people get all upset over these things. Plainly put: Ford finally has a fast N/A car, I mean it did take them for ******* ever. But still. It's called R&D and technology advancements. Everyone's points of arguments is very similar why the LS1 is faster than the LT1 stock for stock. It's called muthafuckin R&D.

Most people who argue these things have no real valid points to offer.

A. 5th gen camaro's have been out longer than 5.0 mustangs
B. Why criticize someone for wasting money on their car? Some people like to build what they got with their hands instead of running out to buy the fastest pony on the market. I like the 5.0, but making excuses why someone wasted money on their build is kinda pathetic and a failed attempt to assert your dominance.

As said in other thread i am waiting on ZL1..It will also not be compared to a 5.0 but to a GT500. Which the very next yr it gets a face lift as well. Over 600hp stock and also gets lightened up. They say maybe up to 300lbs lighter. As far as stock for the ZL1 i think it will be fast car but traction limited just like the GT500.

And will agree ford has been sucking in the n/a department for a while..

Oh how the tables have turned. The 03/04 Cobra guys loved to "dominate" and compare to F-Bodys without a supercharger.

In defense back then cobras cost as much as a SS/WS6 and a GT as much as a Z28/trans am. Also in 03-04 nothing to compare the Cobra to..well the vette. And it held its own against stock vettes.

That is how i compare...If a ZL1 was only 35k i would say ya compare to a 5.0..But it is going to be no less then 45 to start and about 50 loaded before mark ups. GT500 can be had new for 46 and loaded track pack and all for 53.

For the last time, the ZL1 is going to be direct competition for the GT500, not the GT. And since the GT500 also uses a supercharger, I doubt anybody will be whining.

Have you seen what the new boss 302 runs? And Camaros are just as common as the mustang so that point is invalid.

You have no room to talk so quit being bitter that a stock mustang gt is faster than your h/c/i and stalled gto that runs a pitiful 12.4@108

My Camaro ran a 12.75 at 111.67mph, to say the least I just don't understand the hype of the new 5.0.

But then again... It took Ford 41 years to put out a Mustang GT that came stock with over 300hp, and 47 years to break into high 12's stock. So I guess I could understand why Mustang nutswingers are all going bonkers. Congrats to Ford for finally catching up with 1998 I guess?

There really isnt much you can do to kill weight. I got mine down to 3680 with a 1/4. Auto trans. It would be about 3665 if I changed out the front wheels.

Other than that you have to really dig to remove weight. Its just a physically large car with IRS and 2pc drive shaft that doesnt help anything except to keep the camaro5.com crowd that ditched their Lexus comfy while they sip starbucks.

Then add in the 6 airbags that they will need when they ******* rear end someone while not paying attention while sipping said starbucks.

Half the reason Im selling my 5th gen is because of the average dbag owner and not wanting to be associated with them. Just like 3rd gen owners, lol.

So how bout the new 2011 5.0 that was bought not even a month ago. Still bone stock with 600 miles already has a broken driveshaft. Looks like Ford really did a number on this one. Also it was deemed as abuse, so no warranty and he had to buy a $600 driveshaft for it. It did lose 29lbs of rotating mass though.
