Red face Typical Mustang owner... *sigh*

So I'm coming down the freeway on my way home in the CTS-V, and this decent looking 2011 5.0 Mustang with exhaust on comes up trying to play. I figured - sure, why not, we have some room.

1st run:
I get next to him and he does a typical ricer-fly by and I start making up ground but we ran out of road, so I let out.

2nd run:
We line up, I downshift into third, as he hears me downshift, he takes off - same story, I let out early. At this point I'm getting a little annoyed, but whatever.

3rd run:
Finally we line up again and he rolls the window down asking to go a third time. He goes, "Not bad for a car with a huge *** blower on it." I go, "Huh? You spraying?" He goes, "No man, just exhaust... I just got it." I'm thinking ... We decide to give it another go and as I downshift to get in gear I'm right on his bumper, he takes off again. SERIOUSLY?!?!

4th run:
I figure this is the last time, I'l go ahead and give it another go. We are doing about 45-50, I'm in 2nd gear and ready to hit full boost if he jumps the gun again. I roll the window down, we lined up, he asks, "Are you ready?" I said, "Sure - let's go." We take off at the same time, hitting full boost pretty damn fast and 1 car length turns into 3 when I hit 3rd, once I'm in 4th and pulling pretty hard and let out as I'm coming up on traffic.

We didn't get to talk after that, but I'm sure all he had on there was exhaust..

Next time!

It's right at 565rwhp with 8psi. I'll be bumping it up to about 15-16psi once I get the fuel system maybe later this summer.

Sounds like a nice car that runs pretty hard. I'd stick at the lower boost until the fall when it cools down some since the heat is a killer.

:bigthumb: That's the truth man... this heat is brutal. Free HP on the temp drop! It still runs pretty good even in the heat, but yeah you're right. I thought about upgrading to the F-1R though since all the bracketry is the same and running even more boost, but not sure how much my T56 is going to take. Decisions decisions!

Yeah, Camaro guys never do ricer flyby's, or gravel burnouts.

edit:gk man.

what are you doing for a rear end? they break with a lot less power than you have. is your rear end setup posted anywhere. i ask because even though im pbobably getting tracy a XLR now, a early V is not out of the question. i wont get one just to have to engineer a rear end.

To run how good, that once we actually started at the same time he got drug gear after gear? I'm not quite sute I understand your post.

I guess what I'm getting at is I've put 4-5 cars+ on new Z06's, so if you tell me a new 5.0 Mustang is C6 Z06 fast with an exhaust I'd love to have some of what you're smoking.

Stock with the upgraded axles. That's the only thing that's ever snapped on the car were the axles, and that was from a 2nd gear pull when it was 35 degrees outside. Other than that, I don't really launch the car from a stop because the wheel hop is so horrendous. Great freeway bombing machine though.

Damn, you could barely get 3 lengths on the exhaust only 5.0 but you pulled 5+ on a C6 z06? Those new stangs are nasty!
