Obviously the relationships are going to be closer from generation to generation now until there is a radical new technology that blows the old tech out of the water. Direct injection will probably be that new tech.

All good..A soldier of mine just bought a 2005 C6. He tried talking smack first. Then after looking up what they run stock he changed his mind 12.7ish range. Told him though some bolt ons, stall and a nice cam and it will be fast. Only bad thing is its a convertible.

He also has a diesel that just made 650whp/950wtq. Pretty nice truck. Just so dang heavy.

I haven't seen a ls2 vette do better then 12.4 stock. average I have seen at our drag strip is 12.8-13.2. Which there are plenty of 5.0s in the same range and faster even the 12.4's. As mods get going i think the vett will win. It is lighter and will produce more TQ.

He was also was talking way his car sits now and mine sits now.

To get him mid 11s he will need least a stall and some bolt ons. Most likely just exhaust. To help get to lower 11s he will need a little more.

Right now with great DA and work done to my car I will get it to 11.2ish and with summer here i will run mid 11s. I will prove that next month when i am on leave from the sand box.

mod for mod he will rape me in the end that is true. full bolt ons and a little weight reduction he will see 10s if he can drive it to it.

Maybe in the future, lots of possible plans for it. But for $400 for the current setup that gained 45rwhp I cant complain.

Ohio you should tell the guy at my track that he should go faster. 12.4 ain't the norm....this guy was runnin 13.1. A ls2 gto will give a new 5.0 fits.....I have seen them go a 12.6 bone stock....but I'm sure that's not the norm either.

Foxbody 5.0 drivers are a bunch of **** talkers and cheaters imo lol. A few days ago I was driving home and story short I was at a red light on my left lane and some convertible pulled up next to me but i didn't pay attention who it was, I wish I did though. So the light turned green and the dude just guns it, i'm like "wtf?" Noticed it was a 5.0 GT, dude didn't even warn me, rev or honk or nothing, caught me completely off guard, then he pulled up again and told me I needed Nos, "im like dude, u didnt even warn me and i didnt' even notice you." I asked him to go again but of course he had to turn, so you know how that goes.

My buddy beat a new edge gt 5 speed by over a fender the other day in his dad's 305 tpi 92 firebird formula. Has CAI and flowmaster on it.

People don't give the HO tpi cars enough credit for what they were back in the day.

I take it the guy in the Mustang couldn't drive very well??

My old Bullitt went consistant 14.1-14.2 in the 1/4. Dont the 305/5spds run 15's?

OMG there is some serious nonsense in this thread.

A 305 TPI auto(post 85) was a dog thanks to the peanut cam(out of a tbi car )no matter what F body it was in. A 350 TPI with dual cats,327 gears in a light weight(ie non GTA) could give 5.0s fits. My 5.0 stang when new went mid 14s at about 95 MPH(older 5.0s were slightly faster due to better cam, lighter weight). My 89 350 Formula with ttops went 14.2 once and 14.6-14.5 at 95 MPH. 5.0s with bolt ons, removed front sway bar, short belt, lot of gear,5 speed and slicks/skinnies back in the day could sneak in the 12s.

My Formi(high 12s with stock manifolds,street radials,n/a full weight)

My Fox new notice window stickers

My Fox now

Hilo or any other LS guy on here local I be glad to show you in person what a 331 Fox at 3500 pounds can do with working PS,AC and full interior on pump gas on drag radials on stock rims with all sway bars on. I usually do a full pass last after letting out at 1/8 mile first three passes(you get the boot when you trap past 135 MPH at Mason Dixon)

I have seen the late year (example 91-92) HO 305 and 350 cars (auto and manual) run low-mid 14s pretty consistent.

Most people assume all TPIs ran 15s though...hence my underrated comment.
