Agree people see videos of video's like this and think the camaro is faster. We have a bunch camaro guys at our local hang out. And all them agree the 5.0 is faster. I am tryng to get ione with cams and maggie to go to track, It makes 660whp guy claims he will smoke any 5.0 yet will not take it to the track. One t he vett guys said he went once at 600whp and ran 11.8 on DR's. After that he made it a dyno queen. His car does sound beastly though.
With equal drivers manual vs manual it isn't as close ad you think. Compar both best for each car and it is .3. That is a lot in drag racing. It is all because the mustang is in some case 400lbs lighter and a min. of 250.

I love the discussion of what's faster and what's this and that. This video is a perfect example of what happens in the real world. We'd all like to think that all new 5.0 mustangs run 12.5 when in reality most dont. Same goes for camaro. At the end of a day it's driver A vs driver B. Setups, wear and experience very and all that matters is the person that has the better run and comes out ahead

Bad thing for GM the 2013 GT500 is going to have around 620hp and will be lightened up again. They talking trying to get it down to 3600ish. The ZL1 is already said to be a same weight as current SS or a hair heavier.

I think the two will be good runs for each other. Only bad thing is the ZL1 will need tires to shine just like the GT500.

I'll wait until I see proof of the GT500 getting stepped up before I believe it.....but damn, I hope it is true.

The ZL1 will perform very well against the current GT500. I mean, look at what the heavier CTS-V can do...

The kicker is that ford isn't going to be stupid about this. I'm sure they are waiting for Chevys move before they come out with the current gen gt500's successor. The gt500 is far enough along in it's lifecycle that a new overhaul in the drivetrain department is justifiable. I don't mean to be pessimistic about this, but it's the same thing that BMW does to Audi every generation.
