I was'nt joking! The op was some pretty decent mods on his car and for the gto to go around him like he stated that gto had to be heavily modded.
And just for the record I have destroyed a few h/c gto's as well. As a matter of fact the only gto I ever lost to was a '06 h/c 6 speed with a maggie on it. That car was impressive. I'm in Michigan

NO! As stated before, LS1 GTO's don't count. They are slower than a Cosmo's painted Camaro, it's gotta be a LS2 or nothing.

lol you guys think the fbody versus gto thing is rediculous, just wait until the LS1 versus LS2 debate gets rolling.

I never understood the hate toward GTOs. To me its a step up compared to a 4th gen V8 F body. The Fbody has the advantage against a 6.0 due to the weight. F body has the edge once mods start going on. Can't tell you how many cammed, bolt on LS2s I outran when I was si but my car is light.

Guys I really don't see what the debate is about. LS2 GTO's and LS1 f-bodys are a drivers race mod for mod. The closest race I have had in a long time was against my friends 05 GTO CAI full exhaust tune. My 02 SS was same mods but no tune and 3.90 gear. From a 40-50 roll I would jump out on him by a fender and he would pull back even then edge a fender on me and it would hold even there. I tuned and cammed my car and then he tuned and cammed his and it is still very similar results but I jump out the fender he pulls even then I pull a fender on him and that is where it stays. These runs could go either way so its basically a drivers race no if ands or butts about it.

I actually like the GTOs, even the ls1 cars a quick, roomy, comfortable, handle well, and are better built than 4th gen f bodies.

Well my little brother has a GOAT and he puts down 571 rwhp in his 04' so I know they are out there. His car runs really strong and surprises lots of people. Ya never know!

What's his setup? He's definitely gotta blindside people with that car (assuming it's mostly stock looking).

Wow, this thread went off on a tangent...
I'm in northern New Jersey.
I'm pretty sure I just ran across this same GTO last night. It sounded exactly the same. We got a couple of runs in. On the first run, I started in 3rd gear at 50-55 MPH. We were neck and neck until the end of 3rd, but we were coming up on some traffic so we shut it down. Eventually the traffic cleared up, and we ran again. 3rd gear again, 50-55 MPH. I was a little late on the start, and he jumped out about a car length and stayed there until we shut it down (near the end of 4th gear for me) around 100 MPH. We got one more run in, and I was late again, with the same result. We weren't going off of 3 honks - he was sticking his hand out the window and counting down from 3, which was a little hard to time. Not making excuses, his car is definitely faster than mine. I caught up with him on an off-ramp right afterwards. He asked what I had done to my car and vice versa. He said he had longtube headers, exhaust, intake and tune, stock rear gears. We gave each other the thumbs-up and went our separate ways.
