I was looking at some dyno sheets over at 3rd gen.org. one guy got 224 rwhp just by bolting an HSR on his stock LB9. everything else was bone stock. chip, exhaust, log manifolds, fuel pressure, everything.
add all the other bolt ons in and you would be up closer to that 255 rwhp territory, just like Doug said. the lb9 305 manual actually had decent heads, cam and compression. the TPI was the major choking point.

Funny, you said it was stock as a rock besides the intake, but the thread says it had an LT1 cam. They used 350 LT1 cams in 305s?
Just curious, if they did, then I guess I learned something?
Maybe slightly in your defense, they didn't disclose that on thirdgen.org...but it's funny, they said all the same stuff you did, stock fuel pressure, manifolds....

By the way, the other day when you said the above, I took a peek myself.

That guy probably had the "peanut cam" lb9. There's not a lot of difference between an lt1 cam and the larger 305 cam. Certainly nothing I would swap for.

the peanut cam was stupid small. the larger performance LB9 got the l98 350 cam which was actually quite reasonable.
GM had too many engines.
TBI 305
small cam TPI 305
large cam TPI 305
350 TPI.
the last two were the only ones that ran anything even close to worth a ****. the peanut cam had under 180* intake duration @ .050 and .305 lift. pathetic!

L98 and lt1 cams
so I could definitely see why he would swap out a peanut cam for an lt1 cam. but not really a reason to swap out the L98 cam.
All cam lift specs are with 1.5RR unless noted.
