I heard there are other magazines that do other tests on other tracks. Motortrend might not be the only one.

They used 2 different cars for the same test. You don't find that odd?

did you look at the layout of that track. It's laughable by road course standards.

.02 and you call that a win.......lol

who was the driver/s? Were they pro's extracting out what the car can really do? Were they even the same driver for each car?

I know the answers to those questions in the other test.

The mod motor god just raised the bar at Pomona. First mod motor in the 5's. Still using a production alum block and 96-98 cobra heads and crank.

Impressive at that boost level he keeps the heads firmly attached to the block. lol.

Way too fast for my blood.

I don't want to poopoo on this guys awesome run but if he is running 5's in the quarter with a stock block, crank, yadda yadda and is a rather stock setup then why is it that most modular fords don't run decent times? This is a semi serious question.

I know you know the answer but want to hear it from a ford guy.

Although many of his parts are stock castings, They are FAR from their original OEM design. His heads don't look like heads you would pull off of any 4v. I'd assume the block is the same. He has to work with whats available.

But I think to really answer your question I think that very few people have the $$ for the R&D on so many different combos he's been through over the years. Cam design, intake port length/volume, head design, etc.

Getting the motor to live above 9500 rpms is one thing but getting 50-60psi out of a twin turbo set is also not the norm either. As with heads up racing, mums the word.

None the less, he put in his dues and hard work to accomplish what he has done. A pioneer and I don't think many will take the same path.
