The big dogs get together at the track... A select few will play on the street but traction is hard to come by and most of them are a big older and stick to the track anyway.
5.9=9.0.... 5.8=8.9
Most the high 5/low 6 cars are cars that will run on the street... The ones a bit deeper in the 5s are track cars and you don't really catch them rolling around on the street.
The equations are usually pretty close... I try to pay attention to over all setup however and can usually guess a little closer since I can base mine on gears/power adder/etc..

Hey you've always proven pretty accurate from what I've seen. We don't have 1/8 tracks around here so I really have no idea. Everything sounds fast/quick to me in the 1/8th,while at the same time sounds slow...because it's in the eighth lol. Some of you guys run those all the time or exclusively and have a good handle on it.

This sticks pretty close without adding any other variables.. I never use this though I kind of always have a good guess because everyone posts up 1/4 times so I am always having to pay attention to everything so I can compare my 1/8 mile times to their times. Bit of a pain but I don't even notice it anymore. I'm usually within a tenth or two and 1-2 mph. Of course the more info you have the easier.
1/4 mi = (1/8 mi) x 1.54
1/8 mi = (1/4 mi) / 1.54
1/4 mi = (1/8 mi) x 1.54
1/8 mi = (1/4 mi) / 1.54

I have beat plenty of cars that would outrun me by a few tenths in the 1/4 but I 60' them by so much they never have a chance to run me down in the 1/8 and I end up having them by 2-3 tenths.
If you can run good in the 1/8 though because of a proper setup that is making the power it should, you will run killer times in the 1/4 for the given setup.
Biggest difference in the 1/8 VS 1/4... 6.7@103 VS 7.0@99 in the 1/8 is a way larger deficit than 11.2@120 VS 11.5@116.
I get a lot of 1/4 guys that will compare my 1/8 to their 1/8... While I might only be .2 quicker and 3mph faster in the 1/8 it is going to get pretty ugly since I'm doing 3mph faster than them and 1.5 cars ahead at the end of the first half and we still have another full 1/8 mile to go.

On the 10.39@129mph motor pass I ran a 6.6@104mph.. My best 1/8 mile so far was a 6.50@107mph.. I will have a better 1/4 time after this week.. Should have a 9.80-9.90 time coming this week..

1/8 is a bit more challenging IMO... The 1/4 lets you neglect suspension/tire choice/converter/gear/etc a bit because you have longer to run someone down. If you don't have a properly setup car you will get your **** waxed by a much "slower" car. 1/8 is ALL about the 60'. It shows how well a car is set up IMO where the 1/4 is more about the actual setups potential.

I'm running a 28" and I'm considering going back to a higher gear... I'm running 373s right now. It will make the car a little more consistent, I'll just have to see how it does at the track when I get it back together, motor is shipping Monday.

This was the 10.25@130mph pass breaking up down the track bad.. It ran decent for the first 1/8th but just stumbled and fell past that only picking up 23mph on the big end.. With the issue worked out it should run 134-136mph out the back door in the heat.. In good air maybe 138-140mph with only a 150 shot.. Also on this pass I left on the motor barely foot breaking it and the spray kicked in at about the 300ft mark..
Yes ima have some vids..

New motor will love that.. Although I don't think my setup will need to shift that high, I'm thinking it is going to like 6500 or so, that is what I have seen with other similar setups.

I'll finally be able to spin mine up there and not worry about it.. I was worried at 6500 before, and it let go real close to it.
