He blew the rear on the next pass.
Actually he has had very bad luck with his. 1 blown motor, 2 broken clutch's, and 1 blown rear. He ended up selling it to buy a 03 cobra.

Wrong again, on almost every level. The only thing you have right is that each car is different. Mainly due to weather/driver factors.

Please correct my mistakes since you must know everything....

I stated I raced the car in my own car, hes my brother, and I drove the car. And you lingered on the one fact that I posted what it put down on the rollers.

Many of the people in here apparently dont know jack about the GTO...
Education time...
Curb weight of GTOs...
manual GTO = 3725lbs... no driver
auto gto = 3800lbs... no driver
Most GTO owners pull 100 lbs out of the car without blinking an eye. Tow brace, brace cover, gas tank braces, jack kit, spare tire, trunk carpet. Weight reduction is very easy for the GTOs... you can get them down to the weight of an Fbody without much work. My personal goat weighed 3625ish curb weight... 3765lbs with me in it (light weight driver mod). When I ran at the track with a 1/4 tank of gas... I was right around 3670lbs with me in the car. So no they arent as heavy as most believe... and they weigh right around what the new 5.0 weighs... not several hundred lbs more like most believe. So TBH there really isnt a weight disadvantage for the GTO vs the new 5.0... they are right on par.
Second there is so much BS hype about the new 5.0... not to say it isnt a great car... it is but hype is hype and its not actual real world results. I have personally seen a new 5.0 do 11.8 with a -700 da CAI, tune and drag radials here in Texas. Normally he would be mid to low 12s...
Sorry for the quality (watch for lights on the cars ) and the crappy camera man (was his friend in my car to even weight). This will probably stir the pot a little... very very lightly modded GTO vs bone stock 5.0... getting downed every single time, 2 digs 3 rolls. I killed another one just like this from 3 rolls in a row a couple months later... he asked me if I had a supercharger when we pulled up to the light after the runs.

There are many factors that go into a race besides just HP/TQ and weight... power band is a huge factor, conditions... driver etc etc. LS2 still has a stronger wide powerband all across the board... and thats what gives it an edge over the 5.0 imo. Fords were never known for having a good wide powerband like GM Ls engines.
