I raced one in the 06 GTO(stock at the time) and beat it from a roll bad. It was a C.A.I, cat back, msd, bigger intercooler srt-4. Then he wanted to run at the track and it was even worst. Frist run he ran a 11.8 or 11.9(1000 foot) and it just got worst after that. I ran a 10.77 frist time out and called it a day.

The problem with 'stock' SRT-4 nowadays is that they can have a DSP tune, which you can't see, that adds enough power to beat a stock Fbody, especially if altitude and or heat is involved. The person could add some injectors and 3 bar sensors which you can't see either, and tune for E85 and it get's worse.

If you race from a dig you'll at least have a chance to beat most of them, because FWD sucks.

The first one had a big ebay intercooler (stock size is fine for his power level), mopar intake, wastegate actuator ($50, BEST mod on stock turbo), and a 3" downpipe dumped. He made 273whp 320tq on a DynoJet, untuned... With less mods, making 251whp 299tq on 205/45/17 $70 tires, he ran 13.3 @ 104mph with a 2.159 60'

The second one had a wastegate actuator and 3" downpipe dumped, untuned. He was on 235/60/15 M&H's which are BIG on a Neon. Those allowed him to stay even with me from the 20, but killed his topend. He was also having fuel cut issues which really killed his topend lol.

It is very cheap and simple to run 12s with minor bolt ons in a neon, you just need to know what works and drive the car correctly.

Stock versus stock, an SRT4 is NO match for an LS1 F-body that is running and driven up to its potential. That's reality. Once modding begins, as with any vehicle, that changes.

Ive raced a couple back when i had my 93Z. One in particular which i still remember had stickers on his drivers side front fender of cars with an X on it as if he took down alot of cars. Unfortanantly for him i had a full bolt on and 150 shot nitrous Z28. I do have respect for them with simple mods you can get them really fast and there are several vids of them on youtube proving it.

i've met neons with boost controllers, no mufflers and cais that trapped 112+. granted, i had their card from a dig with my bolt on stalled a4, but they'd obviously get me every time from a roll. it's fun to race the first time, but after you know what's going to happen, it loses its shine.
Neon SRT-4's come stock w/out mufflers.

Same can be said for any car that runs high 13s @ 95+ mph. So is the peons more special?

fivenine....of course a car making almost the same whp as you in a nearly 1000 lb lighter car is gonna walk the dog on your dumbass, especially from a roll. as for the last vid, either the guy in srt lied to you about whats done on his car, or yours isn't running right. no way should he have come back on you like that

I didnt say a neon is the only car that runs high 13s stock and can run 12s with a few bolt ons, or that it was special in any way... The OP was wondering how he would do against a pretty much stock neons so I posted real life results of me vs a few basically stock neons...

The one in the last video has a built bottom end, full bolt ons street tuned on e85 @ about 320ish whp... I know exactly what is done to all of the cars, and I knew exactly how the races would go down.

if its modded you might lose. ive pulled on a bunch of stockish srt4s back when i was bolt ons. Just last night i ran one with a stock turbo on 22lbs and beat it by a car or two and another with a bigger turbo on 18lbs that stayed on my quarter panel from 40-130. my car has a little hotcam, ud pulley on stock tune with stock exhaust manifolds.

Even if you lose you can at least chalk up a win in the sound department. Everytime I hear an SRT4 Neon I feel like im in the trenches of Vietnam being shot at.
