Humbled by a Supra

Op..with 4.10's why were you even racing from that speed. You gave him the advantage right off the bat. You should have asked him to slow down the roll to 30 or 35mph.
Boosted Rice love it when N/A V8 cars run from a high mph.
Not saying this would have gave you the win but you would have ran him harder. Anyway, if you want to play with boosted cars on the highway, either boost up yourself or LS2 Block, 408ci, cam and Trick Flow head. You will leave his mouth wide open when you pull away from him!

Yeah he walked me hard, prolly a little more than h/c setup would be needed. My ricer excuses were my clutch is on the way out and if only we raced at the 1/8 mile track. Lol! But regardless it was an awesome car, prolly the only Japanese sports car I would own. Even though it was a death by a good margin it still made my day .

Oh yeah I knew right from the get go he had the full advantage, especially when 110 rolled around and I was shifting into 5th lol. But I was just having fun and always had a great respect for those cars and that was my first chance to race one. I think if he looked a little closer to stock I'll prolly would of tried slowing it down some .

I have one and they definitely do because mine did until I opted for more power. Maybe not a 7M but a 2JZ will do it all day.
@ the OP: Nice death. H/C/I and a 100 shot should do the trick.

yeah man..any Supra with anyting on the car saying Titan Motorsports!!...is like a red flag saying.."back the **** off unless you too are boosting like a ****"..those guys have Supras runing around the 8 second range all day long...but i aslo get where you coming from when you was just messing around to see what he had
I thought nitrous was cheap power but damn.

First you say a cam will do it. Now it's heads and a cam. You're hilarious.

You definitely raced him in his territory. Those Supras are great high end cars. I race one back before I was supercharged and we went from about 40mph. I was in front about a car until 4th gear, then it was like I was standing still.

Fellas, a 4 car pull from 80 - 140mph is huge, the OP had the disadvantage against that Supra at ANY speed. And I'm sure the OP would need H/C/I and nitrous to keep up with that. For those who don't know turbo Supras, they are no slouch off the line either. Those 3.0L inline 6's make impressively huge torque. Not like your average "ricer".

Umm I have a 2J for last 3 months and have been around them since 1993 in regards to driving them, building them and racing them. They don't for long at that power level-rods are the weak link.

If the setup is properly tuned a stock bottom end 2JZ is quite reliable to about
700whp. By 'reliable' I mean a level you don't have to worry about putting 5k+ miles a year on it. I personally know of an 700-800whp stock bottom end Supra that has been flogged for 30k miles and which shows no signs of any compression loss. In the earlier days of 2JZ tuning (mid 90s to early-mid 2000s) most highly modded 2Js were run on the stock ECU with piggybacks, running the very advanced timing maps of a stock car, and I think these setups would have been less reliable.

Stock bottom end 2JZ motors have been holding up to 900+ hp. But now-a-days those power levels are being achieved via stand-alone ECU tuning, which also help them be more reliable and run alternative fuels like E85. Granted, a stock bottom end 2JZ running 900+ hp probably is not necessarily going to last a long time, but the point is that it is achievable while still being considerably reliable.

I defense of the Supra
a Heads, cam and NOS LS probably may not be enough from a 80mph roll.. it is hard to beat good setup turbo cars from a roll with anything N/A
