Default 06 GTO M6 vs. 2011 camaro auto

Finally my first real race in my goat! A friend of mine just got a 2011 camaro and he thinks it's pretty fast, i told him i would walk him but didn't believe me so today after formation we went out on the highway and lined them up

First run: He didn't honk just went
Second run: 50 roll, i gave him the hit and put about 4 cars on him by 120
Third run: 55 roll, I honk it off i get the hit and put a bus on him by 120

We ran a few times with the out come the same

Mods: Intake, catback
His: Intake

Have a few cell phone videos but they look like ****. Over all the results are what i expected.

that sounds about right. the auto camaro is slow they dyno about as much hp as a stock ls1 puts down and its in a 3800+lb car. Yes it is rated at 400hp but the tune and tranny really suck for performance in that car get a tune and a few more mods and he'll be running with ya. your gto would be better suited racing a stock ls3 6pd ss not that tune lagged l99.

Actually if its the L99 they are turds on the highway. The kickdown is terrible and between shifts are terrible as well, the first mod i would do to that car is an immediate tune(tranny mostly) and put on the rest of the stuff later. My friends G37 pulled 1 1/2-2 cars from 45 to 95-100mph, i know i was driving the L99. If its a V6 the OP beat that is a stout 6 then, lol.

Good kill.

I used to rape Auto Camaro ss in my G8 with only a tune, and intake. Later with bolt ons on teh G8 it was pure murder for a auto. The 6M put up a decent fight but still got walked.

It looked like it took a second for him to down shift when he hit it, i wanted to do a dig but we were on a kinda busy highway. Everyone busts his ***** about not getting a ls3 lol

He isn't much of a car guy, but thats what i told him to do, get a intake, tune, exhaust, stall. The thing that blows is there isn't a good speed shop around here at all. I'm in southern New Mexico and the closest one is like 4 hours away

I've been trying to get a g8 gt on base to race but he never wants to, there's a black 5.0 here too but an old civilian owns it, he looks like he's 100 lol

i ask that b/c dealers are known to put 87 octane in the ss cars ( they did in mine when i asked him however i have an ls3) but it effects the L99 in such a way that it reverts to the low octane table and requires a fresh tank of 91 along with fuse pull or a tune to correct it

I only got to race 1 5.7 bolt on GTO that was bolt ons in my G8. I beat him. Then raced a 6.0 GTO with bolt ons. It was dead even really. We bolt had LT's, full exhaust, cold air, tune. At the track I ran better then he did by cutting better 60 fts. I ran 12.6 he ran 12.7s. Then I sprayed it a 75 shot for low 12.1's. ...LOL

He's had the car since may, but idk what he puts in it. That sucks, don't all dealers do that? When i test drove the new 5.0 i saw them put 87 in it too.

most of them do, but some i heard of actually putting 91/93 in them which surprised me. when i test drove a new 5.0 a couple months back i went with the salesman to fill up and he put 87 octane in it as well. i dont know if they fixed the pcm for the L99's for this issue or not but many people out there are driving them not knowing about this

The new PCM on the stang is crazy. It will adjust timing its self depending on the gas you put in it. Adjust for knock and everything. It becomes a problem when tuners **** with the knock sensors. Leading to the #8 piston issue.

Dyno's have shown the car pick up 15whp just by switching gas in it from 87-91 octane. that is on a stock a PCM no tune added.
