Default Damn ls1's quick run vs friend

Me mods in sig
Best bud: 98 auto 410 gear longtubes xpipe filter free mods untuned.

Had a quick run 30 mph hit me in second, kind of a dead spot at about 2800 rpms but 1st is useless with my crappy street tires. He honked it off i spun a little his auto downshifted so it was a pretty even jump. by the end of second i pulled a car and a half, shifted to 3rd pulled another half car and shut down. His damn car is practically stock and gave me hell. I hate to run him in a couple weeks when he gets the frost tune.

Hey OP.. With your mods I would think you would be making some pretty decent HP/Trq. You have the Cubic Inches (351), AFR heads which are great flowing head, and a good size cam. What does you car dyno? I just can't understand how a light bolt-on LS1 is running within a car of you. Was traction the issue for you or is the combination of performance parts not working well together? You also have a decent gear ratio and a comparable weight to the Camaro..
Just curious..

whe only ran from around 30 to 70 so 2 cars aint to bad, i would have just kept pulling and being that I spun I didnt get near the jump i normally would have, just didnt wanna make ricer excuses . Never had it on a dyno but most cars similar to mine are in the 350-380 rwhp range. It runs strong. But its no world beater

At 30 mph in second in dead in the water woulda like to have started at 45. He had every advantage in the world. Dont underestimate bolt on longtube ls1 cars though they are strong.

Yea...that is a short run..no doubt. Did not give your car a chance to stretch its legs. I figure you would be somewhere in that Hp range based on your mods description. Sounds like you have a strout ride there.

Wait so he has 4:10 gears and his car is not tuned? Wow... I mean wouldn't that affect his performance by alot if so? Also a tune for an auto is a must.. Right?? Anyways good kill op .

It runs fine believe it or not. he will have a tune within the month so we will do it again. But the gears didnt affect any driveability but did make it faster. Not near my first ride or drive in an ls1 it is running fine.

Something may have been done as far as some kind of tuning because the speedometer is correct.

If you would have started in 1st (traction pending here, of course) it would have been like a slingshot for you.

Nice kill man. Keep us posted after the tune and what not for your buddy.
